celery 8 Posted January 28, 2008 I'm having some serious problems with my ping and desync values as of late, appearing after installing Queen's Gambit and 1.09 although the last time I played online was long before doing that. First I thought it was only in 1.09 but I seem to have the same problem in 1.08. Basically I see some rather large pings (100 and way up) in the server list and when connecting to a game the connection is very bad and I keep getting lag spikes and desync all the time. I checked my firewall settings and like before, all ArmA files were allowed. What could be wrong?

Yes, and other games have a good connection.
celery 8 Posted February 17, 2008 Bump to this thread. I did a reinstall to the game and it currently has no unoriginal files but the connection problem persists. I checked my firewall settings again and readded arma.exe to the allowed list. I get serious lag on every server I go to.
Heatseeker 0 Posted February 18, 2008 I have crappy 2mb adsl from the jungle and everything is ok here (both 1.08 and 1.09). If it started happening recently its likely something on your end (ISP f*cking you up, router gone bad, cables, etc). Are you 100% positive that its not happening with any other games? celery 8 Posted February 18, 2008 Are you 100% positive that its not happening with any other games? All other games are working fine without lag, I have a 1 Mbit connection and there's trouble only within Armed Assault. Even very nearby servers give me lag but only in ArmA. ArmaVidz 0 Posted February 18, 2008 I think a good thing would be to begin troubleshooting the issue by a process of elimination. What operating system are you running? WindowsXP? Professional/Home? 1) Turn off your firewall. Turn it off 'hard.' Start Button>Run>services.msc>Right-click on "Windows Firewall and Internet Connection Sharing(ICS)">Properties>Choose "Disable" in the drop down menu>Click OK>Right-click on the service again>Choose "Stop" (Repeat process, except choose "Automatic" where you selected "Disable" and then start the service by right-clicking and choosing "Start" to RE-ENABLE IT) Retry Arma. 2.) Start Button>Run>ncpa.cpl>Right-click "Local Area Connection"(or if you two local area connections click the one that is active)>Repair Retry Arma If 1 & 2 don't help, it might be related directly to the game itself. At least you'll know if it's your firewall or network connection if it is. One other great tool is SpeedTest.net - click on the server nearest you to test your upstream and downstream to see if the network connection is working properly. 3) You might be interested to know what network connections you have inbound and outbound as well. Start Button>Run>Type: CMD>Click OK Button>Type: netstat -an>Press Enter In the netstat output you can see the Local Address and the Foreign Address in the list. On the left you will see the protocol type (TCP or UDP). Usually, on a home computer, with no programs open, like MSN, internet explorer, BlahBlah Program Updates etc. you should only be connected to less than a handful of Foreign Addresses. That should at least help you verify if it's the network connection or the game itself. Can't tell ya too much about the game itself and checking the network issues with the game; but usually if you solve the network issues i.e: firewall problems you solve the issue with the game. celery 8 Posted May 15, 2008 Just the other day I had the brains to finally uninstall my crappy Norton firewall and antivirus bundle and replace them with freeware programs and hey - everything started working again! Just disabling Norton seems to be not enough, you have to kill it to be sure. But anyway, I guess I'm able to join servers and continue my beta testing.
