After enough experience of 150vs150 in multiplayer and endless charges with Ai, I have learnt that Ai do not like it if you waste their lives with little enemy death in return.

I lost 90 Ai to my mates 25 and the AI for no apparent reason at the time, shot me and took command, and despite all efforts of death, I could not retake command. After a small laugh, we restarted and saw it happen quite a lot, to both sides.

In a large charge I annilated an entire line of infantry, in which my mates troops shot him, and retreated into the hills... just found this quite interesting as I saw it happen to myself quite a lot... and it was not because of accidental friendly fire. whistle.gif

Got any addon or mod?

I have never had this before, but sounds really cool if BIS implemented this themselves rofl.gif

Nope, was running Vanilla ArmA at the time. Was just speaking with a few guys about it, its a damn interesting find.

It was most apparent when I was counter-attacking the town of Gaula with about 60 guys, after about 50 had just been lost (had a script to spawn them via action menu).

On their entry they were cut down by my mate, and about 30 guys later, my guards (I had not fired a shot by this stage as I was an officer with bino's about 900m away on a hill :P)

shot me and took command and despite respawn I had no way of regaining control... best option was to either restart, or kill them all and then start again (respawn all the units again).

<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">?(side player == WEST): "SoldierWB" createUnit [position player, group player, "this allowfleeing 0", 0.5]

?(side player == EAST): "SoldierEB" createUnit [position player, group player, "this allowfleeing 0", 0.5]

exit

The allowfleeing 0 was implemented later to try to fix this, it made it much less apparent, only saw it once.

This is probably due to rating - whenever you lose a soldier under your command, you're given a slight minus to your rating. In normal vanilla play, where you don't have 90 people in your squad, this will generally never be enough to make you go under the magical line at which point you're made the enemy of all (same as if you shoot too many of your pals). Amusing as it is, it's also easily fixed: simply institute some kind of system which uses addRating on all players, and use it to give yourself a buttload of rating. Alternatively, if you prefer not to be the Nr 1 target of every enemy AI in range (they like to kill people with high ratings ^^), have a script running in the background that resets your rating to acceptable limits whenever it's getting too low for comfort smile_o.gif

Funny situation though! biggrin_o.gif

Figured as much, and was actually going to make a script such as this, because when I made a script that re-sorted out the Ai by rejoining them to your squad etc and initially hopefully give me back leadership, I noticed if I shot enough yankees (at the time I was a Rusky haha), I'd get given command.

It was great fun though! And definetly made us more tactical by actually making the Ai slow down a bit and we kept trying to kill more of the enemy's bastards so they'd kill him haha.

I think this is a neat little touch by BIS.

I've never experienced this and probably never will because OFP only had 12 units per group and in Arma I hate when I lose any men. They feel so real.

Actually... no, i fell happy when they die.

Are just a bunch of idiots who are mo worried to fet in formation than shot to the enemy.

I don't know, i fell they are just kid and when they are in position scream with the most Boy Scout annoying voice "Look at me daddy, look, i'm in my--" *brains covering everything in a 2m diameter*

I place AI and i play alone, or as a soldier.

Same applies to squads which lose some men, get new men and lose them again and get new men again and lose them again etc... Eventually they can't take much casualities anymore. They will flee very easily.

I'm not sure about this, but even sight of enemy vehicle can cause them to flee. wink_o.gif

lol, can vouch for that, my mate wanted a one man stand about an hour into the gameplay, about 60% of my guys fled after he shot his first volley into the fray. whistle.gif

They should do that more often, ive seen too many squads(which had no AT weapons in the first place) get totally destroyed by 1 tank because they only flee after most of their squad has been destroyed. confused_o.gif

(Though its better with your scripts, they shouldnt hang around enemy tanks in the first place. tounge2.gif )

They shouldn't run from vehicles... Until it opens fire at them ofcourse tounge2.gif (First hide and if that is not enough then run)

Infact their ability to flee has been disabled (allowfleeing 0). Scripts are taking care of that, enough suppression and their allowfleeing is increased to 1, causing them to flee. Had to do that because suppression scripts are taking care of moralemodel and built-in morale kept interfering with that.

There are some things which causes them to evade forexample aircrafts... Sadly i don't know how or when it happens, and i've seen it happening only couple of times. Don't know does it apply to vehicles. But it shouldn't be affected by allowfleeing or fleeing value. I've seen it happen with squads that haven't been suffering anykind casualities and only enemycontact they are having is Camel flying in sky... I quess this was in 1.05 (when machinegunners didn't know how to shoot birds from sky)
