Drel 0 Posted December 26, 2007 I have Atari ArmA US retail boxed version, v1.06 as shipped. After upgrading to 1.08, it crashes immediately when I try to launch it. I unzipped the patch before trying to install it. Patch reported successful install. System: Video: eVga NVidia 8800GTS 640MB w/ latest drivers from Nvidia.com (169.21) Sound: Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer RAM: 2GB OS: Vista 32bit w/ all patches installed via Windows Update, including NVidia recommended hotfixes for Vista. Disk: 150GB of free disk space 1.06 launches fine, 1.08 crashes instantly. A Windows Vista error dialog comes up within a second of trying to launch the game, with no video mode change or loading screen for ArmA. I uninstalled ArmA, re-installed, launched it, it displays splash screens and shows the ArmA menu fine. Exited, installed 1.08 patch, launched it, crashes instantly. yannara 2 Posted December 27, 2007 I've read a lot of topics, that Arma works pourly with Nvidia 8000-series.
Tankbuster 1747 Posted December 27, 2007 Have you? It works fine with 8xxx cards, especially with 1.09. The original poster's problem is more likely to be related to his operation system or his x-fi soundcard.
gilderan 0 Posted January 8, 2008 Sorry Tank maybe not. Had the same issue when I had Win XP and upgraded from the European version to 1.08. ArmA finally worked fine with my Soundblaster X-Fi with the nVidia 8800GTS 640 meg card only AFTER I upgraded to Vista but not on Win XP. So far my suspicions for my situation are either a faulty base install of Win XP (new system and installed by the tech pions).
