Team fortress 2

Recommended Posts

I remember some other people were fascinated by the promotion videos a while ago.

What do you think about the game after the release?

I really appreciate that it wasn't one of the many "payed beta" releases and that it isn't that hardware demanding. Also patches are coming faster than they're requested from my point of view.

Otherwise removing the grenades and shrinking the map sizes removed a bit from the old TFC fun whithout adding new content. An equal team compilation is more important now than a single player's skill. What makes sticking to your favorite class and winning at the same time difficult.

And the new character depth is only based on the promo videos, you won't find anything like this in the game, except for the taunts.

The German version was cut for nothing as it is still not allowed to be sold under the age of 18. The blood was removed without replacement so you don't have any hit indication and players are exploding into toys. The available bloodpatch depends on a server setting, so that cheat prevention brakes it.

Anyway it's fun to play.

Actually the characters have these automatic taunts when you go on killing sprees. Gives them a lot of personality imho, even when the person playing them has none.

Soldier is my favorite for that (although i don't like playing as him as he's kinda too strong right now).

"If God wanted you to live, He would have not created ME!"

"I joined this team, just to kill maggots like you!"

"You're all weak, you're all bleeders!"

"You are in my world! You are not welcome in MY world!"

Then there's the heavy, he's my second favorite loudmouth!

"I am amused, by an entire team of itty-bitty people!"

"Ruuuuun, ruuuuuuuuun! I'm coming for you!"

And with the heavy you can make some really funny moments, i once had a pyro retreat from me on 2fort and he was waiting behind a corner to ambush me, thinking he'll win.

I started slowly walking towards him and started the heavies cheer, the one where he starts singing "dam dam, da-dam, daaam daaa, da-da daaam da daaaaaaam!" and he heard me slowly approach spinning the gun with the signing and everything... He was cornered with the big bad heavy coming at him.

Then once i saw a vid of a guy killing an entire sentry farm as a spy and backstabbed atleast 6 people, including the 3 engineers that were building stuff, then once he was done he proceeded to take a smoke. I love roleplay moments like that...

But the game can get old quite fast, too many rockets and pipebombs everywhere.

Another Valve game i am psyched about is Left 4 Dead, it's going to be a lot of fun too!

I agree, I think that some aspects of the game have effectively been 'dumbed down'. Whether this is a good thing or not depends on what you were expecting from the game. To a certain extent teamwork is more necessary in TF2 then it was in TFC. I feel that this is somewhat forced by the streamlining of the different classes into different area of expertise.

Anyway as Trapper says the game is fun enough, I don't think it will have the long-time appeal that previous versions had however, due to it's mainstreaming.

It is the game I have been playing since I got it, and ittruly is a great game. It's just so well balanced, the graphics are the meaning of pretty, and it's non-stop fun. The humour is excellent and when you get a good team who will work together, it is just really satisfying. Loving the game so much.

fun noun :

1. Enjoyment or playfulness: She's full of fun.

2. Team Fortress 2

Its one of the very few games I've ever played when its fun if you winning or losing, killing or dying - everything is brilliantly comical so you really don't care if you've dies 5 times in a row.

I've been playing Team Fortress since the Quake days, so I've been waiting for this one since it was announced in 1997! I love it - it's a completely different gaming experience depending on which class you choose. My favourites right now are Demoman, Spy, Sniper, Medic.

Look me up here if you want to cap some control points sometime:

This is excellent. I am enjoying the sniper and trying to use some CTF tactics Ive gained from ARMA with mixed results. Just peeling a little around the corner (and missing lean from ARMA) and going for other snipers on the Battlements.

Also like the Heavy for attempting Suppressing fire. The rocket guy is good for Artillery barrage for say the bridge in fort (that barn one) but not as fun as the above two. The quality is very high and I have yet to encounter a bug. Interface: sleek /intuitive. I like the look of the game but the map size was small for me and the action gets a little too rocket spammy at times but all in all, GREAT.

P.S. good medics and engineers teams win!

Actually it was, since if you wanted the beta you had to pre-order Orange Box.

Still, it rocks, and I love playing it, so no complaints here. (Thanks for standing still, wanker! wink_o.gif )

The first retail version wasn't a in a beta like state. No one was tricked into that beta test before.

Don't even think about having that discussion here.

Any Orange Box owner and OFP PvP player will probably be interested in the Insurgency mod also.

Played it one evening and especially the character vulnerability is the same. The weapons are very detailed and simulate recoil, iron sights and different fire modes.

The "downsides" are a jump key (but you can't shoot while jumping), a few BF like 3d position markers and it's current beta state.
