Jeppen 0 Posted November 1, 2007 Hello all! I have a problem with the terrain texture. After i have imported the sat+mask in V3 the texture gets converted into about 50 smaller files, i'm pretty sure this is right, but i'm also pretty sure it's not supposed to be turned into 100% black images. Does anyone have a clue why this happends? I have tried redoing it several times with the same unwanted result. I tried changed the texture to something else incase the file was corrupt or so, but it's the same problem with all the textures tried, trajahi from Sahrani and a few from the sample map. I'm completely stumped. PS: Big BIG thanks goes to Placebo, you know what i mean.
Edge 2 Posted November 1, 2007 Please, can you describe more precisely what images are black? Does it happen to data, or you see black surfaces in game/Buldozer? If you mean files in Layers folder starting with M (for Mask), and there is only one surface defined in your original mask raster (used as a part of input when Importing Satellite + Mask), it is normal and you have it right. Jeppen 0 Posted November 1, 2007 Hi, Yes, it's black in buldozer too. Yes, it's the m_ files in the Layers folder.. and yes i only have 1 surface defined in my Mask image. How did you know all this??? *looks over his shoulder and sees a faint shadow disappear down the ventilation shaft* So it should work if i add a second surface in the original Mask image? I'm going to try this as soon as i get home.
opteryx 1562 Posted November 1, 2007 I recently experienced this when fooling around a bit, what I did was swap the names of two _co detail textures. So when I loaded up Buldozer at least one of the detail textures was completely black, it might be an error in the paths (which is a very common error BTW). Jeppen 0 Posted November 1, 2007 Opt: Do you mean you swapped the tex names in the Layer config or on the actual texture file? Could be a path error too i guess, gonna check when i get home! Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for the tip! Nope, I swapped the name of the actual textures. I do stupid things out of curiosity
Allie 0 Posted November 1, 2007 If visitor indeed created all your layer parts without any error, then i have to say too, check you paths in the layer.cfg but also check all rvmat files, both in data and layers folders, Maybe your mask_lco.png might be using different undefined colors ?? Later, Allie
Jeppen 0 Posted November 1, 2007 Thanks guys, it's working now, here's what i did: I'm not sure which one was the trick, maybe all of them together, i have no clue, i just did everything i could think of before trying it. -) i changed all the RVMAT and Layer config paths into lowercased letters. -) changed the MyMap folder name into lowercased letters (mymap) -) in layers.cfg i changed the endings from .png into .paa (except maplegend.png of course! -) in Layers.cfg i removed all texture classes i did not use. -) in the Mask_LCO i added a second surface color That's it. ...and here's the result!! I've had several hundred requests from different server admins who wants to put it on their server 24/7. All i can say is, forget it... you can't have it!! Huge thanks for your help guys! alt='smile_o.gif'>
opteryx 1562 Posted November 2, 2007 Glad you worked it out. BTW that road, it you want it to level out horizontally,Select the road(s) you want to smooth, go to Scripts--> Add & Run Script--> Select smooth roads and run it with default settings.
JBâ„¢ 1 Posted November 2, 2007 Now.. i don't care how much you want me to release this island, i'm not going to!!I've had several hundred requests from different server admins who wants to put it on their server 24/7. Jeppen 0 Posted November 2, 2007 Ok, i have a problem here... I have layed out my road as an artificial object, so when i selected my road and ran the "Smooth Road script", it only asked me to select a road and then rerun the script again. So i figured the road i was seeing infront of me actually didn't exist. I then tried the Tools -> Roads... press Add -> put in a random name with no obvious meaning.. Now i'm clicking the "Straight Parts" tab Then "Add" ..finding a suitable road like "Sil25.p3d". Double clicking that will get me the following message...: "Object doesn't follow requirements for road object. ( Are there all named points present? )" Any clues what i'm doing wrong, coz i'm pretty sure this sin't right.
Allie 0 Posted November 2, 2007 you do not place roads that way mate, Go to tools and pick "roads", then click add, just give it a name, say myroad, then you can define straight parts, curves, special parts and endparts. You find the road parts true this window on the same spot as always. So define the straight parts, define the curves, define (if needed) special parts(this is crossroads or roads comming together parts) and define the end parts 5normally it has "KONEC" in the name. ok sample : http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/89/visiroadwa4.jpg hope this helps. Planck 1 Posted November 2, 2007 Make sure when adding road pieces to a road definition that you are using the MLOD roads provided by BI. Trying to use ODOL format road models will produce the error you described. Object doesn't follow requirements for road object. Planck

Allie That's what i did, i clicked Tools, then Road, clicked "Add" and gave it a name, then in the Straight parts tab i try to add/browse a road but then the error message comes up. If i'm unable to add something into this tab, how can start defining it? This how it looks for me. I have tried almost every kind of road in the road folder, sometimes i get the error message and sometimes V3 just crashes. I can't find any MLOD roads, neither can i find any ODOL. I wish i knew what was going on. Have i unpacked the wrong Road Folder maybe?

It's only a test island where i try to learn how to work the tools before moving on to my real project. It was only a joke. I still need help with the roads. Allie 0 Posted November 3, 2007 Im joking too, i just dont know whats going on with your problem mate, i know some parts are not working, but i also know some work fine, for example the "ces" parts, because i use them too. You sure you have unpbo all roads ? later, Allie
Jeppen 0 Posted November 3, 2007 lol ok. I have 337 different roads in my roads folder, can anyone confirm this? i got ArmA + QG installed.
fasad 1 Posted November 4, 2007 Yes, I have 337 files also. QG doesn't affect your roads.pbo.
Jeppen 0 Posted November 4, 2007 Argh! Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong here?

Planck As Planck said, The MLOD roads follow on your P:\ automatically when installing RC3, if you've unpob'ed the roads pbo and are using those, you're using the wrong roads. Jeppen 0 Posted November 4, 2007 Ok, it's working now, i reinstalled all the tools coz i figured it'd be easier than finding the original roads again. Thanks for all the help guys!!
