horrgakx 1 Posted October 28, 2007 Guys, I'm not bad at ArmA, just completed everything and starting to download missions. However, playing some servers, I got killed about 15 times, without even seeing the enemy. Â Even standing in the home-base spawn point. Any ideas please? Also, I tried one of the co-op servers, the ones where you are able to select missions. Â Have a look at this screenshot, I couldn't move, yet people were talking and I could see people running round in front of me. Â Even the ESCAPE key didn't do anything and I had to press ALT-F4 to close the game in order to get out!!
Infam0us 10 Posted October 28, 2007 You Screenshot shows you have a red link which suggests you were losing connection. This would indeed mean you can't move as you describe as your connection is having trouble placing you on the map in Multiplayer. As for getting killed 15 times in a row, Multiplayer gaming in ArmA is a whole world different than it is in Singleplayer ... so get practising on as many DM Servers as possible to get those reaction times, and accuracy up ... Good luck

horrgakx 1 Posted October 28, 2007 I've got ArmA and Queens Gambit installed. Â Both original DVD's. The only issue I had with installation was when Queens Gambit reported it couldn't copy some files across. I don't understand why you'd say that, I ask for help and you call me a cheater? The_Captain 0 Posted October 29, 2007 There's an anti-cheating script which locks up detected cheaters. However, a 'broken red chain' means you're losing connection from the server, and in that case as well you would not be able to move. It's more likely you were having connection problems with the server. Also, being killed 15 times in a row can be expected. A lot of ArmA MP maps have you facing long odds against AI (so all the AI try and kill a few human opponents), or you're fighting other players in very low density combat, where there might be one or two enemies within 100m... and if you reveal yourself, you're toast without knowing what's going on. In PvP multiplayer, be careful and expect an enemy everywhere. Of course, being killed 15 times in a row just could be cheaters running kill-scripts which randomly kill players. Auss 208 Posted October 29, 2007 Even though he has the red chain this will not stop him from moving around, he would still be able to imput commands to the PC, I suspect what most of us is thinking maybe the actual cause
LBpilot1 0 Posted October 29, 2007 he would not be able to move only if it said "no message received for X seconds".
oChaos.DNJ 0 Posted October 29, 2007 you just revealed you're a cheater... I thought the same  If he is it proofs the stereo type of a cheater still hasnt changed. or possibly someone else was cheeating and thats why he was killed multiple times and locked up? horrgakx 1 Posted October 29, 2007 Thanks to all who've suggested its a connection issue. I have had some issues in Live for Speed and Battlefield 2 before, but not at the frequency I get them with ArmA. While on the subject, I installed a soundpack a while ago, I think this has caused issues with Queen's Gambit when it was installing, and I've also found out that some servers don't like certain modules. I think I'll reinstall, but I'll create another thread for that as I want to keep my savegames. Thanks.
