Vista Troubleshooting Thread: The one and only

Recommended Posts

here is something from one of our guys who has a high end graphics card, windows 7 and a 64 bit computer, and couldnt run Arma1 till....

<S> Success !!!.....I`m happy to announce that finally managed to get my ARMA_1 to run!. Initially Devildog sent me this web page which gave me something to think about in terms of where Arma1 should be installed on my pc. As you both know Arma1 by default installs itself in C:/Program Files/ Bohemia Interactive. This is………as it turns out, is a mistake because with Win7 x 64bit it will install to the 64 bit directory, you have to point it to install in your C:/Program Files (x86). This directory is apparently specifically there for the install and running of 32bit programs. You can guess the rest….

Next I had to then experiment with compatibility settings to still get it to run.

Rundown of steps.

1/ Install arma1 Official patch 1.18. It would not run on v1.14 patch no matter what ( Did a fresh Uninstall-reinstall and sequentially patched it up to v1.14 but no good.)

1/ Take my pc out of HD video mode and swap out cables from HD to DVI cable.

2/ Remove all my OS visual enhancements and put the settings to basic and performance.

3/ Change my desktop screen resolution to just 1920x1080.

4/ Open up my ATI Catalyst Control Centre and remove ALL visual enhancements. ( Everything looks like crap now sob..sob lol)

5/ Set Compatibility Mode to Win Vista. Disable Display Scaling on High DPI settings.

6/ Run the game = Success!

Determination and perseverance does pay I guess J
