Marshall300 0 Posted October 16, 2007 Here's what I've been noticing since OFP, the more you play, the less FPS there are, after playing for 20 mins or so game starts to freeze for a seconds, its obvious there are some processes running as the CPU starts to work more intensively, so it becomes impossible to play some huge mission after an hour of playing... So, my question is is there something you can do about it? I don't think it has something to do with my specs but just in case here they are: P4 3.6 Ghz, 2x512 RAM and geforce 8600 GTS... Also is there any way to decrease the grass density or to disable it at all? I'm sure there is some at least in the mission editor... Thanks.
Heatseeker 0 Posted October 16, 2007 I dont know about your first problem, it could be that your cpu is overheating after some time of play (is that a Pentium D? ) You can disable grass by turning terrain detail to very low. For a mission you can force it in the init.sqf file: setTerrainGrid 50; .
kklownboy 43 Posted October 16, 2007 NVDA owners have usedthe "Flush" command to get back to speed.
H00t74 0 Posted October 17, 2007 Are you playing single player or multiplayer? What is teh mission.... Many online missions decrease over time due to all the "background" data running.
ModaFlanker 0 Posted October 17, 2007 Most games have some kind of memory leak... so the longer you play, the more memory it uses which forces your computer to switch to using your swap file as memory (the hard drive) and when that happens, thats when the computer freezes heavily as it waits for the harddrive to finish loading. I quit there and restart the game to fix that myself...
nate77 0 Posted October 17, 2007 Yes this is a very annoying bug, but I have found a way around it. Whenever the fps drops hits, usually within half an hour, just disable AA and then set it back to normal. Disabling PP and then turning it back on works too. Also use the flush command every 15 minutes or so. It's definitely a very annoying memory leakage problem and, in my opinion, the biggest bug that BI has yet to fix.
