MissileDefender 0 Posted October 7, 2007 Just wondering about this. I think the recon class carries a laser marker. When you click the fire button it has a white ball appearing in the crosshairs in the binoculars. What does this actually do?
Dallas 9 Posted October 7, 2007 You can use it to designate targets for Harriers and Cobras.
der_baer_fm 0 Posted October 7, 2007 Where you point the laser, there is a Target, which Planes with laser guided weapons can see and attack. Best is to make a simple mission, with you as recon, and a flying Harrier with GBUs with a Search and destroy waypoint near your position. So you can point your laser anywhere, and the Harrier will atack that position.
ModaFlanker 0 Posted October 11, 2007 If you're in the jet, what you'd see as you have the GBU bombs selected is "Laser Target" as a red square in the distance. Hit TAB to switch targets until you have that as your target, if not targeted on it. As you fly in to it and if you do not see a diamond appear on the box, what is happening is that the fins on the bomb will have zero chance to guide the bomb to the target before the bomb hits the ground. So, you need to either pull up or nose down until the diamond appears on the box. One bomb does tremendous damage so a single bomb is usually all you need to release, but you can always drop them all at once if conserving bombs is not a priority. After the bomb is released it's pleasant to fly sideways a bit and then bank to look at the target for the bomb to hit.
wika_woo 182 Posted October 11, 2007 Here is a good way.. Make sure u are a recce or recon.. Even a sabatour can carry a laser deg.. 1. Group a Harrier or A10 with player. 1a. Give the plane a waypoint going past the target. 2. Make sure player is higher ranked than plane. 3. Place OPFOR armour anywhere.. 4. Preview it, once spotted armour, click it using the laser binos, and u see a white beam on the armour. 5. the plane will then see the target. 6. Watch the sky light up with fire. Best to be tested out at night time. BRING THE RAIN!..
