Stewy 1 Posted October 2, 2007 That'd be cool Yoassarian, a Beta would be awesome
Zadoff1880 0 Posted October 3, 2007 I don't know about the rest of you people but I think it's a great idea that you intend to use m14 mags from the RACS weapon mod by Scaven and freinds... I don't know anyone who does not have this pack already, and the m14 there is simply great - ballistic values, sounds etc. So plz, do use it, if possible. I know we all want everything NOW, but if I were you, I wouldn't reliz an early beta - players usually react to such things a bit... well, u know - "This version is full of bugs!!!" etc. So let's just wait untill is DONE
Blackbuck 9 Posted October 3, 2007 As for magazines why not have it compatible with more than one?
Maddmatt 1 Posted October 3, 2007 Talk to 6th Sense, please, because that would be awesome! Would be really nice to start getting stuff like that standardized so that ACOGs could be used in CQB too, so please.. take a step into the future of ArmA before the rest of us! Bad idea IMO. There is a pretty major bug where both 'sight modes' can have a seperate magazine loaded. You can see for yourself by trying out the 6thsense weapon pack. Until that bug gets fixed I think it's not worth it. Would really be great if BIS fixed it.
Yossarian 0 Posted October 4, 2007 Ok guys, I'll release a preview in this thread sometime tomorrow hopefully. It's all ready to go, just needs uploading. NOTE: the sound I'm using is from an old Ghost Recon mod. The author (Thumper1518) hasn't got back to me so I'm assuming he's not around the community anymore. For this reason, I am going to go ahead and use his m14 sound giving due credit the the ReadMe. Other than that, just remember it's my first gun for ArmA. wipman 1 Posted October 4, 2007 Hi, for a Beta release... i'll vote for the iron sighted version, so we could try it and look how it works, try to spot bugs or weird things, incompativilities with other addons or mods or whatever; about the scoped version... i think that i'll use a "classic" 2D sight M24/M110 style. But i'll be awaiting for the Beta, i want to try this damn good EBR. Let's C ya
Yossarian 0 Posted October 4, 2007 M14 EBR - PREVIEW 4 Oct, '07 Model/Textures/config: Yossarian (JTF-2) Importing/config: RobertHammer Sound: Thumper1518 Required mod: Skaven's Racs (for the m14 mags) ------------------------------ This is a preview and is NOT the final version. Only 1 gun is included (iron sights only). There's an Ammo Box under EMPTY/AMMO/M14 EBR crate. Comment and crit are always welcome. The model won't change that much other than adding kit, but the texure is not final. Thanks again to all those who helped. It's Just a Preview, but you can get it Here
Zadoff1880 0 Posted October 5, 2007 Many, many thanks for the beta! Now it's time for more optics/longer barrel/silencer?
Yossarian 0 Posted October 5, 2007 you got it but first it's essays! ?? Try it out guys, what do you think the texture needs?
Stewy 1 Posted October 6, 2007 It's a great rifle mate - I love it! Stew
Zadoff1880 0 Posted October 6, 2007 After 5+ hrs non-stop EBR testing... well, it's a great rifle! And an excellent addition to the arsenal of da West! I don't think I have spotted anything that I would consider a "bug"... the model is A+, textures are OK, the weapon is animated, the size of the weapon is just right, no muzzle flash so far, but I don't care much for such things. So... it's one of those must-have addons, in my opinion. Good luck with those essays! Anything on Moby-Dick?

I'm not really sure how I can make the texture better, it was rushed a bit so i guess just taking a second pass at it would help. thanks Lol, nothing on Moby Dick, but since you asked -What made Eisenhower lie during the U-2 Crisis of 1960 -Orwell's Homage to Catalonia -Detailed analysis of conditions in East Germany reguarding the effects of the Berlin Wall Not all in one paper, though as for updates, as of a few days ago, the scope model was finalized. Now to the unwraping.

Zadoff1880 0 Posted October 7, 2007 -Detailed analysis of conditions in East Germany reguarding the effects of the Berlin Wall Well, they all want to return back to Soviet Socialism, that's all I know
Yossarian 0 Posted October 7, 2007 -Detailed analysis of conditions in East Germany reguarding the effects of the Berlin Wall Well, they all want to return back to Soviet Socialism, that's all I know Zadoff: What are/did you study? That paper is actually going to be narrowed down to East Berlin, not East Germany. In Berlin when the wall was going up, many people were suffering. The top 10% of skilled Berliners fled to the W.side before the wall went up. Conditions were very hard, especially when compared to W.Berlin. It was like living in the projects but having Hollywood as your neighbours. Almost. Anyway, I like history. Karskin: If you read the topic, you'd get some idea. But since I'm a nice guy I'll say it again: -silencer -long barrel -sniper scope -S&B Short-Dot -Ecotec (maybe) -bipod (maybe) -AN-PEQ (maybe)
kasrkin85th 1 Posted October 7, 2007 @Yossarian: oh sry dude. eotec sounds good for me but a ACOG would be nice, too when you need help with the gun sound....i see what i can do.
VIPER SHIVA 0 Posted October 7, 2007 I was thinking ACOG as well. Also, I have seen pics of the Troy SOPMOD M14 with an M203 attached. I don't know if that is possible with the EBR, though I suspect it probably is possible if such a configuration was needed. An EBR with ACOG, suppressor, and an M203/EGLM would be a very sexy, exotic, and effective replacement weapon for the SF assault class.
Zadoff1880 0 Posted October 9, 2007 I don't know anything about that S&B Short-Dot scope. Is that a good thing? Need to do a little research...
Yossarian 0 Posted October 9, 2007 Hey guys, I'm thinking probably no ACOG. It's a pain to model/texture. Also, I want to try something new. Kasrkin: Thanks for the offer! If I need some sound editing, I'll let you know. Try out the preview and see what ya think. About the short-dot: It's mighty expensive, but well worth it (apparently) Here is the product page And here is a review/info about the scope In .PDF form
Blackbuck 9 Posted October 9, 2007 Why not make something like an EOtech with it's relative 3.0x magnifier? As for the ShortDot all S&B stuff is optic porn
Yossarian 0 Posted October 9, 2007 Why not make something like an EOtech with it's relative 3.0x magnifier? As for the ShortDot all S&B stuff is optic porn That might be an option. But I'm getting ahead of myself a bit here. Right now I'm swamped with RL work. How about I start with one scope The SD is actually a pretty big scope. Looks mean on the EBR. Blackbuck 9 Posted October 9, 2007 ar15.com have a whole thread dedicated to the short dot. Here
Yossarian 0 Posted October 10, 2007 A question: When I'm making an aimpoint style scope, do I need to include a plane for the reticule texture in the model? Is the proper way to do it just with alpha chanels in the texture? Here's an update. I think this will be the final model for the ShortDot. I did have to fudge the scale of the front part of the scope so there was plenty of viewable area through the scope. But would you even have noticed if I didn't tell you? please C&C. once I start unwrapping, there is no going back! Dun, dun, DUHHHH.
Blackbuck 9 Posted October 10, 2007 Personally I like these sort of mounts but they would make it more of a scout configuration having the optic mounted so far foward.
Yossarian 0 Posted October 10, 2007 ya. I had a lot of trouble getting position right. All the pictures I've seen of m14-type rifles with scope similar to this one have been mounted roughly in this position. But I've got no idea where it's supposed to be. You think it should be farther up? full disclosure: I've actually been working off some references from the MGS4 trailers In that m4, notice how the back end of the scope is right around were the back irons are. It's about the same with the EBR too. It's personal preference I guess. If anybody has any shots of an EBR with short-dot on it for reference I'd really, really appreciate it.
