foxer 0 Posted February 22, 2002 http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,46262,00.html olympics sucks anyways.
Ex-RoNiN 0 Posted February 22, 2002 If you say the Olympic Games suck, then you are saying that the spirit of Freedom, of Peace and Democracy suck as well!!!! Remember what the Olympic Games were: they were a venue that pacified the Hellenic (and sometimes even the outside) world and brought everybody together to compete peacefully! Prizes were just olive twigs, but back home the athletes would be showered in honour and prizes. More importantly, people stopped waging war against each other! Yeah, the good old days
MosquitoMkVI 0 Posted February 22, 2002 No he's not. The Olympics has become a symbol of McDonalds and roots...There's irony for you the biggest cause of world wide obesity and god knows what diseases advetising for what is supposed to be a symbol of athletic prowess. I find the Olympics pretty boring, except the hockey part, and yet believe strongly in "the spirit of Freedom, of Peace and Democracy ", there is no correlation!! Akira 0 Posted February 22, 2002 Russians are just peeved off cause they are sucking this year, and this is nothing more than a PR move to try and take attention away from that fact. There was no biased judging. They're just being a large 4 year old, trying to say if the Canadians got a Gold then Slutskaya (slut...hehe) should get one two...despite the fact she made errors in her routine and Hughes skated FLAWLESSLY....much the same as the Canada vs. Russia debate. The South Koreans I don't know....I don't know jack about speed skating or "cross tracking" so my uninformed opinion (based on commentary analysis) is that he did cross track ie impeded another skater...namely Ohno. Think they're pissed off because of the crash on the earlier race that THEIR skater caused...
Charlie_McSheenie 1 Posted February 22, 2002 I don't blame them really they got treated like shit this year and anyway, the winter olympics suck anyway like foxer said, the only people who win are those who happen to have snowy countries, meaning shitloads of countries will just get embarressed (like britain )
4ntifa 0 Posted February 24, 2002 The Yanks and Canucks are being biased as much as they dare. Take hockey for example. They wanted a North American final and the refs were clearly advocating that. Take the third period in CAN-FIN for example. The Finns were dominating the game and would have surely scored, but the ref obviously put the whistle in his pocket. The Canadians were free to use whatever means necessary to prevent Finland from scoring. Especially Selänne was taking a really brutal beating, being crosschecked and slashed all the time. I'm sure the same happened when the Russians were playing USA. Well, this is nothing new. Everyone's doing it. Just take a look at the Mid-European Skijump Week (or whatever) and watch the Germans and Austrians congratulate each other which outrageous points.
Sandman 0 Posted February 24, 2002 In the US vs. Russia game it was an american judge i think. I think I saw a Canadian judge in the CAN vs. BLR game also... Thats OK in the Olympics, but not in any other tournament in the world.

Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted February 24, 2002 I realy enjoy the winter-olympics. Whether snowy countries succeed more or less I dont realy care cause in fact most disciplines can be carried out without living in a cold environment (Germany is not really snowy! why does France perform so badly? Why does Italy perform so bad? Or Canada?) I think it is not fair to say that the Winter-olympics dont have the same right of existance as the summer-olympics. Fact is that the summer-events are much more commercialised and therefore loose much of the proclaimed olympic spirit. Furthermore is doping "mainly" a Summer-olymp problem. I like the winterolympics cause the sports come in such a great variety and distinctiveness. And what I like most: You dont have to watch those super-egos like Gwen Torrence and Michael Johnson. Did you ever see them with a friendly smile? Â Â I only know them with the " who is the bad m o t h e r f u c k e r here ?" facial expression (and still their gold-chains around their throat). No thank you!

Was hilarious for me. and I love the song by Jimmy Cliff(?)

Wobble 1 Posted February 24, 2002 They wanted a North American final and the refs were clearly advocating that why is "they".. its always "they" isnt it.. very very good.. yes.. its that way because "they" wanted it.. not because the teams were both good, not because it was a good game.. but because the all seeing all knowing all unknown "they" wanted it that way.. gimme a break...
