I.. am not a cheater.

Alright, this has thrown me into the most severe rage. Recently on KaRRiLLioN's Bootcamp, a user came into the server along with the name "Victor" (go figure), and came with him his friend "Apple B.D.A"... As the people were in the game, they disabled user controls, spawned AI flown choppers, buildings, and GBU's flew from all of the users weapons. I know this because I received many emails from users in the game at the time.

Now as a loyal patron/veteran from KaRRiLLioN's server back in OFP through ArmA, people will recognize me in this server in particular. I enter the server, and immediately people are calling me a hacker and cheater. At this point, I log in as admin and say "This is nonsence. I don't cheat. I've never cheated, and am one of the largest anti-cheat guys I'll ever know." At this point anyone who deemed it necessary to call me a cheater was kicked from the server. (Perhaps this was a little rough, but if you've ever heard the quote that goes something like... "A lie travels around the world in one day, but it can take a life time to make wrongs right", I obviously needed these accusations to stop so I did what I needed to do.)

Now I #shutdown KaRRiLLioN's server temporarily as it was currently filled with our beloved TKC members and while it was restarting I joined another server. I enter the server and am called "hacker!", "cheater!", "Victor is a cheat, kick him!"... What am I supposed to do? The only thing I can do is say "No... No I'm not".. okay, so I'm not kicked yet.. but wait for it... ah there we go, user input is canceled and hackers start having their way again. "It must be Victor again, he's the hacker remember?".."He just joined, he must be the hacker!"

Then I join another server.. and this time, again with the "Hacker!", "Get out of here Victor got cheating a**hole!".. A user then for some reason types in that I was banned from another server for cheating. I called an admin an idiot once when they refused to apologize for a teamkill, but still.. he was the one who TK'd and should have apologized. I was then kicked for reasons unbeknown to me.

**** This is to set the record straight, "Victor" (me), is NOT a cheater. I've always hated cheats, and don't understand what joy can be brought when a hacker prevents user input and blacks the screen out with the words "All your base are belong to us".

**** This is a call to admins: Please for the love of ArmA and its future, BAN all 10+ digit serial keys as they have been PROVEN by Suma to be HACKED COPIES. And most likely cheaters.

*--This impostor "Victor" will be banned the second he comes into my home server. But please check user ID's people. In 2 years I don't want to be banned from all the good servers other than Karr's because some idiot decided to ruin it for me. I've had the screen name "Victor" since 2001 in OFP and do not intend to change it because of some nutcase.

Now this request is something I will not ever see granted but the fact that players can have duplicate names (in the same server especially) is wrong and should be changed. If two online users have the same name when an account is created it should STOP and not allow the user to create that name as that name was already taken by another user. Oh and the "Illegal Copies May Degrade" should automatically type something along the lines of "#exec_banned_from_all_MP_servers=true"..instead of this STUPID "Hey thats a big no no mister, but play the game anyway, maybe you'll learn your lesson... and remember the game might degrade after a while".

There's hardly any other games I play here in college besides ArmA and already this game is being fed to the dogs more and more... day by day. This is a call to admins, moderators, BIS, players in general.. know who your dealing with. If they have 10+ digit serials, if they aren't a regular in your server if you've never seen them before, if there's someone preventing user input - check whos the guy still able to type. Then you will find the cheater. If you have the map on when user input is disabled, check who's moving... they are the cheater.

Has maturity and the moral of the BIS community gotten to be this low? Yes... Sadly to some degree. I'm not stereotyping everyone, that is to say there are a majority here that actually wants to play a fair, balanced, and justified game without someone ruining it. But when it's ME whos attacked... my only defence is to come to the largest public outlet ArmA can offer and plead for a stronger, tighter Iron Hand when it comes to running our servers, and playing our games with other players.

lol victor, I know you dont cheat. Youve always been a pleasure in our =SF= server, but am currently rescripting an old Raven Shield Anticheat program to work with ArmA ( almost identical interface ) and once i make it a private Beta Im going to only allow a few server to beta test it. Karr being one( just because your a kewl guy ) This program will also have a Streaming Master ban list that =SF= opened a box dedicated to it if it works properly.

THIS IS TO EVERYONE WHO GETS PISSED OFF BOUT A MASTER BAN LIST!!! READ CAREFULLY

The Master Ban List will only add ID's/IP's of confirmed Hackers, Not Tkers, or plain out tards.

So this anticheat... what kind of anti-cheat is it, I mean. Will it be able to detect known hacks like PB or take screenshots, ect....

Will it be like a requirement for everyone to join the server? or just server side?

I played RvS for a little while, but never used any anti-cheat other then PB......

i alittle like punkbuster, but just server side to help prevent to much lag, Screenshots will take a while due to there isnt a default ss button for ArmA, but hopefully it will detect all hacked Data and Ban anyone trying to run a script( hacking doesnt matter what the script it) in the server. Still an estimated 2-4 months before its close to beta due to my work schedule. But the program is AUOCGA and was a wonder( better than punkbuster, created by a RvS user, only 3-4 servers supported it on there servers due to the fact it was a private release program

It's currently impossible to ban all 10+ digit IDs. Unless Suma reads this and would like to tell us a way, or contacts gamespy and informs them to block 10+ digit IDs.

What about people running scripts that are modified for mods? Sound mods are quite popular, since ArmA's default are pretty bad. Some of these mods required edited scripts. Hope that doesn't trigger it

Well, I dont see why gamespy would have to or really be able?

But the devs could do it within their own code a multitude of ways to stop them.

I playerd whit Victor today on Evolution Red and i belive he wasent cheating.

There was Victor2 that was cheating take note all:

if you see a guy whit XAM connecting to NON-XAM server = CHEATER!

XAM = CHEAT!

I don't play Evolution... ever.

Only RTS/DMs/CTF/C&H... and once the AI is worked on a little more, perhaps other coops.

I understand it can be frustrated to be wrongfully accused of cheating, but we cannot have a thread for each and every time this happens.

No admin worth his name is going to ban anybody just by his name anyway, so whether some jerk calls somebody else a cheater should be pretty irrelevant (at least it will be among players who know what they're doing, and the other ones you probably don't worry too much about anyway).
