Profile...disappeared?

Recommended Posts

My player profile has disappeared.  Of course this would not be a big deal to re-enter a name and settings...but all the missions I was working on are gone as well.

I just started my ArmA and it was gone.

No its not in my Arma profiles, its not in the trash can...its not anywhere....wtf!

*edit - looked everywhere..can't find it. I'm not on a freakin Mac, its got to be somewhere!? Any way to restore it?

Any help appreciated.

Try a search for unpacked missions.

On cmd type

<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">

dir *.sqm /S /P /B

from the proper drive root.

Then you know all directories with unpacked missions inside.

I did not unistall so that dose not really help. I have some stuff backed up...but not much. Was not counting on it vaporizing itself.

Nothing has changed...my other player profiles remain. the one I use frequently I (and has all my editor files) just disappeared...

Well, I changed my profile name about a month ago because it had an @ in it.  I was afraid the @ symbol would cause some problems.

Your help has allowed me to find a back up of everything that I did BEFORE that change.

Better than nothing.  Your help is greatly appreciated.

I haven't clicked "edit" profie since then...so I couldn't have deleted it in game.  But if I did, would anyone know where it goes?

and no, that command search showed nothing from my newer profile name. sad_o.gif

*edit* Weird thing is, now both names show up as seperate profiles. But the one showing the newer name has nothing in it. The older one is current as of about a month ago when I change the name.

Guess this is warning for anyone that wants to change their profile name...don't. It may be safer make a new one and copy your files over.

thanks again SeppSchrot for your help.

Uh yea...that would be where it disappeared from. If it was there, I wouldn't be having a problem.

No your default stuff (first profile) is supposed to be in 'my documents\arma', all your other profiles are in 'my documents\arma other profiles'. smile_o.gif

Yea I just had a discussion with someone about this. And the orgin of the problem may be that my file paths are different. My default is not in my 'my documents\arma'.

What I have is:

C:\Documents and Settings\(login name)\ArmA Other Profiles\(profile name)

and

C:\Documents and Settings\(login name)\My Documents\ArmA Other Profiles\(profile name)

I will be reformatting and reinstalling soon and I will see if it is different then.

My only guess is that maybe going from the Sprocket version (uninstalled) to Atari tweaked something. I dunno.

Simple solution until then is making sure things are backed up. And I suggest that to anyone investing alot of hours into a project.

Thanks again for all the responses and help. Lesson learned. wink_o.gif
