pathetic_berserker 4 Posted August 11, 2007 I started making some buildings , my first I should add, and i have some questions regarding Roadway LODS. iWhat Im aiming to avoid is the whole AI sees and shots you through LOD coz it dosn't stop stuff like a Geo LOD. It seems there is some way around it as the ArmA buildings seem to be an improvement on the OFP ones (though not perfect). But no tools and no building config example ..... 1. Is there a limit to how close you can put a Geo LOD under a Roadway LOD. (I haven't measured my gap yet but I'm also wondering if this is possible at all) 2. Does the roadway LOD need to be a named selection with components or whatever sort of like the Geo Lod. If I can stop bullets passing through the floors of my building/object alphas it will be one less thing to do when the tools arrive so any ideas will be appreciated
Panda-PL- 0 Posted August 13, 2007 If I can stop bullets passing through the floors of my building/object alphas it will be one less thing to do when the tools arrive so any ideas will be appreciated Why not adding surface properties to your textures, one of which happens to be bullet penetrability. http://community.bistudio.com/wiki....perties
pathetic_berserker 4 Posted August 14, 2007 thanks for the tip Panda[PL] should come in handy as soon as i pass NOOOOB. I was making some terrible noobish errors with my GEO meshes that were complicating things but i think I have that much sorted now. What I don't understand now is why I can walk through walls but not drive through them??? EDIT.Problem solved.I feel like I kept dropping balls to pick em up. LOL. I might get the hang of this yet! Roadway lod uses texture links to assign surface specific sound (combined with config) Named selection in roadway makes sense only in case some faces are animated. pathetic_berserker 4 Posted August 23, 2007 Thanks Armoured Sheep thats good news. I was going to give that a try, means that my last few hrs of work wont be in vain.

After creating a roadway LOD my buldozer crashes, it crashes after creating any roadway LOD.. why does this happen?
DaSquade 0 Posted July 29, 2008 @Bravo 6: Hm sounds fishy...arf. Maybe make the roadway stuff in a res LOD and on last moment check the res lod to roadway lod property. That way you can visually check your roadway stuff in bulldozer...no need to check it after that. Don't have a clue why it happens though, never experienced that error. *In case you didn't knew, always remove any texture paths of the roadway structures and best to give it sharp values (last not really needed). Not that is should help your error.
bravo 6 0 Posted July 29, 2008 its really strange.. i would like to add this that i just experienced: I made a wood platform, all works fine and it has roadway, and i can see the object in buldozer. But if i try in any other thing its crashes.. Just cpboed and tried in O2 the lesson 9 model because it has roadway aswell and when i do it, buldozer crashes. its frustrating.. DaSquade 0 Posted July 29, 2008 Are you running some kind of scripts/cfgs. No experience here with that, just wondering. Might want to try to reinstall (and make sure there isn't any left-overs in the old folders) in case you haven't tried.
bravo 6 0 Posted July 29, 2008 no, i don't think im using any scripts. Though i have the config.cpp in my addon folder.. I have reinstalled my O2 yesterday to see it it could fix the issue, but haven't solve the problem :\ edit: its really strange, i just tested the following: added Roadway LOD and selected the floor.. tried to open boldozer and it crashed. Though i saved the house im building and send to ingame. I can walk on the floor perfectly and i can hear the floor sound. So its working as it should, but why not working in O2 -> buldozer? DaSquade 0 Posted July 30, 2008 In o2 if you go to the bulldozer menu (the red icon), check the option list. The is stuff like 'disable model config'. By default it is off i think, maybe turn it on. Maybe play around with some of the other option..never know. Does your Roadway lod has any 'Property names and values'? See the Window-Named Properties (ctrl+1). This helps me alot and same me alot of work ive been doing to surround the problem.
opteryx 1562 Posted July 31, 2008 Yeah the roadway LOD crash thing is annoying, you can always temporarily make your roadway into a Edit LOD if you want to view multiple LODs in buldozer.
