fish44 0 Posted July 30, 2007 What effect if any, does silenced weapons have on the ai behaviour. It seems to have the effect of reducing the effectiveness of the weapon which is silenced, so are there any ressons to carry one in Arma. Thanks,
wamingo 1 Posted July 30, 2007 AI has trouble hearing silenced weapons just as humans do. Silenced weapons are quite powerful in close quarter fighting. In my opinion the sound is actually a bit too low. At longer range they're poor.

VanhA 10 Posted July 31, 2007 I like the way FDF sound mod cives the right "clicks" to firing MP5SD...all the moving mechanics sounds make it quite nice.
Halochief89 0 Posted July 31, 2007 silenced does actually help considering if its a spec ops mission and there arent any other around so when you shoot and he drops they arent alerted. Some of my friends say (maybe not in the game) but in real life silenced weapons' recoil is less
frederf 0 Posted July 31, 2007 Suppressed weapons often have less propellant behind the bullet or spread out the impulse of the bullet being fired, so yeah, it's plausible that a SD gun would have less recoil. SD stands for suppressed not silenced. The MP5 can be considered silenced but the M4 SD may not be. SWAT and other such units use a "suppressed" M4 not because it makes the gun stealthy but because it reduces its volume to a level that they can use it indoors and not go deaf. snakefang 0 Posted August 1, 2007 NOTE: i havent read threw all of this thread, so please excuse if it is a read post. If you use SD magazines in normal weapons such as the M16A2/A3, IT WILL STILL COUNT AS A SILENCED WEAPON. The bots will not hear the shots, even when your close. This works will all no silenced weapons, tho it throws some off a bit when aiming.
