XAM 1.3 Released

Recommended Posts

I've put together a (very) small FAQ regarding the most common issues:

Q: The radio in the Blackhawk isn't working!

A: Try turning off Hardware acceleration in the audio options. This problem may be sound card dependent, as I have the same issue with Teamspeak (I've an Audigy 4 SE).

By the way, the XAM radio is available in all blackhawks, e.g. eddyD's Seahawks.

Q: Can I have my own music on the Blackhawk's radio?

A: Currently, no.

Q: How do I transport vehicles with the Blackhawk?

A: To me it seems as if only the "UH-60 Transport" (no MG or FFAR variants) works for transporting vehicles. You have to get really close to the vehicle (hover low directly above it), then "Attach Vehicule" should appear in the action menu. It is not necessary to have an engineer near the vehicle.

By the way, in contrast to the OFP mods for transporting vehicles your air speed doesn't play a role (yet), i.e. you won't lose the vehicle if you go too fast.

Q: It seems I can't get the the radio in the Humvee or Stryker to open up!

A: Try selecting "Use onboard radio" in the action menu, then hold down your "Perform action" key (e.g. Enter or the middle mouse button) until you make your first selection in the radio menu.

Q: What about the artillery coordinates?

A: I think the XAM team doesn't use ArmA's original map coordinates (e.g. FH 45) because they're not very precise. To get the desired X/Y coordinates, you have to use the new laser range finder ("Laser Telemeter"). You can get it from the "Special US" ammo crate. The Spotter has one, too.

Q: Okay, but how does the laser range finder actually work?

A:

1. Choose "Weapon Laser Telemeter" from the action menu.

2. Press fire to activate the laser. You'll see a diamond as your crosshair.

3. Choose "Allumer Module Telemetre" from the action menu.

4. Now you'll see the coordinates (and the distance) of the place where your crosshair is pointing at in the top-left corner of your screen (you can also point at a vehicle). Write the coordinates down or try to remember them.

5. Fill in the coordinates in the radio, the 1st box is for X coordinates, 2nd box is for Y. "Impact Radius" should be small for precise artillery fire (i.e. if you want to hit a single tank, not a whole infantry squad).

Translations of all messages (thanks to datakill):

Allumer Module Telemetre = turn on the telemeter

Eteindre Module Telemetre = turn off the telemeter

Coordonees Non-Disponibles = coordinates not available

Q: 1. Artillery is still not working / 2. I only get one single artillery shot, but not what I would call a bomb carpet!

A: 1. Remember that you have to have a Command and Control Stryker nearby (max. 3 or 5 kilometers, not sure about that).

2. Try ordering a "HE Strike", not an "Ajustement Shot".

Q: Fine, but where can I download XAM? No one's seeding a torrent!

A: Go here: http://armed-assault.de/downloads/xam-v13-english.html

... or here: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=1758

Q: I want my crosshair/the zoom back!

A: Get TrueMods and load it together with XAM: http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....t=68689

Q: SightAdjustment by gmJamez isn't working anymore!

A: Get Solus' Extended Init Event Handler: http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....t=66789

(I didn't test this.)

Hope this covers it for the moment!

Excellent, BlackSheep. I was wondering if you or anyone else can also do the same about the tanks too. That's one of my favorite things, but everytime I get trapped in this one particular view and I can't figure out how to lock on and order a round at the enemy because of the new stuff. Or am I really just that retarded? lol crazy_o.gif

Guys, is the radio portion of this mod also available seperately? Will it be? Can't really play XAM in its current state but I love that radio functionality... 'Nam music in a blackhawk, classic smile_o.gif

Ah man that sucks. I know how it is having problems with money and it ain't fun...

Still, I am (and I'm sure everyone here is as well) very glad to hear they are still working on their excellent mod. yay.gif

Naash, please please pleeeeeeeeeease tell me there will also be some documentation in english on how to use some of the great stuff? Even if it is just quick and real basic.

I'm afraid of getting into my tank now because I get trapped somehow in this one particular view and I still can't figure out how to order the gunner to aim and shoot at incoming tanks. So being the moron I am, I could reeeeeally use the guide hehe.

Anyway, thanks for updating us and giving us the heads up.

Thank you has all for your patience smile_o.gif

The XAM tactical guide in english will be released quickly.

I am working on the version 1.3:05 which will correct bugs most brought back of the 1.3 version.

Here is the not complete changelog of the XAM 1.3:05:

- Installation of mines (bondissantes) less risked for the player.

- Mines are not visible any more on the card in game.

- Various Optimisations.

- Correction of the error message linked to the laser telemeter in the cases of ammunitions.

- The default Third person view will be back in this version.

- The Claymore mines Blow up now correctly.

...

The Xtrem ArmA Mod server has some problems. The technical staff of the XAM works in the resolution of this problem.

I would make my possible supporting to answer better wait of the English community wink_o.gif

thank you has all English players of the XAM smile_o.gif

Hi all,

Is it possible to add music to the radio station of the choper by yourself too?

I believe so, looking through the mod files. I think you need to convert your music to another format and just replace the ones they added.....again I *think*. I'll take another look during the week if no one else responds. wink_o.gif

If you want a radio in-game, there is a perfectly good one somewhere on the forums.

I use "armalauncher" :

select : options -> mods

a window opens

in the first window : enter the mod's name (XAM1.3)

in the second one : enter the directory name (it must be @XAM1.3)

then "save"

to launch the game :

launch "armalauncher"

select the box "XAM1.3"

click on "start single player"
