Unable to open external viewer

Recommended Posts

I followed Bressbs installation tutorial for O2 and followed it exactly. However when I launch O@ I get an error window that pops up saying "Unable to open external viewer" and all I can do is click the OK button.

Why is this program so lame?

I also tried Gate Maker and it runs fine, however Bressb's tutorials don't work so well with it as some of the buttons are very different.

Could any one help me?

Oh yeah by the way the search feature on this board is pathetic, but you all knew that.

Hmm I just read through there and also got some help from Sanctuary and now the viewer seems to start up but I still get an error.

When it starts up I get this

Here is what my options look like now...

Is it something to do with map editing by any chance?

It's just I've never had that particular error.Which

would make sense seeing as I've never tried anything

related to maps.

It's looking for that file in O2/Data3d,but it's obviously

not there. If you could depbo the original Data3d,and

copy that file over, that may sort it out.

P.s

From what I can remember,a plain install of O2 may

not have all the files you need.Particularly in Data3d.

Buldozer\buldozer.exe -window -noland

try that. O2 is not that bad. Its all about pointing to the right place.Heres my instalation.

O2setup.jpg

All of my addon folders *which are the .pbo names* go into my Buldozer folder. So anytime you open a .p3d that is located in Buldozer/MYADDON/Model.p3d the textures an what ever will be loaded with not problems.Thats the way you set up your O2 pretty much. Dont worry about that .p3d missing its because its not in the Data3d folder. You can put it in there if you wanted to. Just unpack the Data3d.pbo in your OFp installation an convert all the models to Mlod. An place the Data3d folder to the buldozer folder.

Thanks shadow, -noland , seemed to do the trick. No error message this time and the viewer shows blue sky with clouds and a brown bottom half of the sky like all the wip screenshots I've seen.

Now to start going through some tutorials. :-)

Thanks for your help guys.

Happy to help,or at least try to help.

I should've spotted that one earlier.Once you

have it set up and running you eventually take

those settings for granted.

Well,as long as you're up and runnin,good

luck with it.

Macser.
