[MCY] CTF missions pack

Recommended Posts

MCY-Missions-Pack-Map-v4.jpg

I am proud to present to you the official release of my [MCY] CTF Missions Pack! It has 25 Capture the Flag maps all over Sahrani both for CQB and a little more open action. The maps use a flagtouch system that gives a flagtouch point if someone takes and keeps an enemy flag for more than five seconds, so if the flag scores are even, the flagtouches decide which team wins.

The maps have a big selection of weapons and in most of them you can select almost every weapon in the game so you can try out each and every one in a real situation. No addons are needed to give everybody the chance to play it. Grass is turned off as a map setting to let people with middle range computers play without a horrible fps. You can shoot everyone you see on the map, there are no annoying spawn protection or jail scripts. The spawn area is where the ammo crates are and when you move away from them you become a legal kill. You can't cross the enemy team's no entry area signs that keep the spawn protected from enemy fire.

I wish you all a lot of fun with it and please report all bugs you can find on it.

Ideas and suggestions are as usual welcome.

Big thanks goes to Celery for helping me with the scripts and giving me mental and physical support during the long developing time!

And thanks to all who helped me testing the maps.

Heya,

A nice collection of CTF missions. San Tomas is a personal favourite. Good to see some vehicles in a couple of them. While back to basics gameplay can be good fun, some tactical variety is also good.

Bad points - the "coop warning" is tiresome. The sun is in the eyes of one team for some of the missions (eg cayo, everon, isla del zorra). FPS in the intro to first strike are very low (~2).

Suggestions (i haven't looked at every single mission yet) - heavy fog misson, rainy mission, night vision mission (or options?), option for random weapon type. Grouped soldiers to allow use of the game's communication system. A CTF for 20 or less players. Most CTFs are simply too big for low numbers of players.

Awesome work Frantic ... if these maps are as good as Celerys they deserve credit! Uploading to =22SAS= Public server and will let you know how we get on! wink_o.gif

thx for the input fasad.

The coop warning just survived the many updates I did, cause many coop players hate CTF, so they are warned and cant complain when they play it...and the CTF template is based on the OW Hexenkessel map, Celery and I made some months ago.

Maybe I will make a new text in some future versions...or Celery will write a new funny text...

The sun effect is just so nice and make a nice atmosphere im my view, but its not a big deal to change it.

Cayo exists as a Gc version with normal sun, so the MCY version will stay with it.

First Strike got overall very low FPS cause of the day time, but again I like the atmosphere the lights are making.

I made a heavy fog version of Kuba Libre and it wasnt fun at all...so I had no interest in making another one with one level of heavy fog.

But Back Fire got an increasing fog level.

Maybe I will make another foggy map in future...

Rainy map is a nice idea, cause nearly all of my maps got a too nice weather ambience, so a bad weather map would be a bit of a change.

Night map...hmmm...I was never a big fan of night, have to test it how it feels.

Random weapons dont make sense in my opinion.

Never thought about the VON feature, cause I have it disabled since the beginning and most servers have it off too.

Only Kuba Libre is a smaller map, but I am already working on another small map.

Thx for looking at the maps and telling your opinion, much appreciated!

Personally I don't mind skipping most maps in the list but Everon, Cayo, Modesta, Mercalillo, Somato and Room Raider are nice enough for my taste. The intros look like they were made in ten seconds but they don't need to be anything fancy anyway. I have already complained about copying the Hexen intro text to all maps, so you know my opinion about it.

It would be nice to at least try out random weapons so that some games would require adaptation and skilful handling of all types of weapons. Of course the ammo crates would have to be destroyed in that game mode. Groups are poison in adversary maps because you can reveal the locations of enemies that you haven't really even seen so it's pretty close to cheating.

I want more maps like Everon, meaning medium sized maps with light armor. I'm not sure about the newest version, but the last time I played Everon the vehicles were very unbalanced giving SLA an even bigger advantage.

its really hard to make balanced maps.

problems:

-the uniforms, BLUFOR with their ACU uniforms is just disadvantaged in green areas

-the vehicles, BMP got better weapons against the M113; M1A1 got better armor against T72; BRDM got better armor against Hummer; Stryker is totally useless with the bad driver view

-the choppers, LillBird has no counterpart

-the airplanes, is there any on the SLA side?

so its nearly or total impossible to make total balanced maps in ArmA yet.

my personal favorites are:

-Cayo

-Chantico

-DeadLight

-Everon

-Mercalillo

-Modesta

-KubaLibre

-Rashidah

-SanTomas

-Somato

-Tandag

im going to put some advertisement instead of the coop warning on some of my maps...so watch out for the new versions...it will take a while till i release a new version of my mappack, but im going to make one.

if someone wanna have some addons advertised, please post here and i will see if i can include it!
