Question about upcoming 1.08 & file compression

Recommended Posts

Any chance of seeing a RAR version of the patch instead, or as an alternative to ZIP?

I realize I'm not amongst the majority, but I'm still stuck with dial-up, and RAR files can be quite a bit more compact. In the case of a 300MB patch, possibly as much as 40 - 50MB smaller, which is very substantial with such a slow connection.

Thanks for reading this.

Or even better, a self extracting 7-zip archive. It's even better compression than *.rar. Guru3d.com use it for their downloads and it works great.

7-Zip is a far better compression utility than most of the others. I also would like to see said utility used.

Watch out what you're saying or moderators in BIS forum label you as "whiner". Been there and done that...

and on top of the .7z compression BIS and related sites could make a .torrent mirror, thats the way to do it, in the 1.04\ 1.05 patch i had lots of corrupted dloads from regular mirrors
