Farles 0 Posted May 20, 2007 Hi there, I didn't see any tutorial sticky thread, so feel free to copy this link into it if it does exist... I made a UV mapping tutorial for Gmax/3Ds Max like 2 years ago, might be useful for some people here. http://www.interlopers.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2173
adumb 0 Posted May 20, 2007 Hello Farles, That may have been a good way of UV mapping 2 years ago, but its not the way its done into todays game dev/game modding world. i have some links here that may help you, and others. Not so much a UV mapping tutorial, its just a very good read on optimization. Linky Aside from the funny url, Ben mathis has a great page full of tutorials, that have helped many improve that way you you model/uvmap/texture. Linky I wont get into much very more, as i think this forum has a big topic full of great game modding tutorials. (or maybe it was all for o2?)
BroK3n 0 Posted May 20, 2007 I wonder if we can do texturing in Zbrush? UV mapping would be much easier imho.
bk1276 0 Posted May 20, 2007 would it not be an idea for a mod to create a tutorial section likes off the ARMA EDITING section so we can have them oll in one place
nephilim 0 Posted May 20, 2007 @brok3n it sure is possible to do so in zbrush but you still need to make a proper uv layout.. which in zbrush isnt pretty usefull.. also any 3d painting apps like zbrush or deeppaint arent very good for texturing the problem with them is that they will always cause projections problems and thus ugly strechings that could be avoided with good old photoshop. BroK3n 0 Posted May 20, 2007 @ nephilim For some reason, i feel violated after reading your sig. Yes, we need an all-in-one tutorial thread.
Farles 0 Posted May 20, 2007 @Sniper Skull I don't know which other techniques you know, since mine is pretty much the base of it. It's mainly for those who got no clue of how UV works. I've been UVing like this since ever, and it prooves to be a simple yet effective way to do it. But yeah Ben Mathis has some pretty neat tutorials too.
