dr_eyeball 16 Posted May 15, 2007 Impressive scale. It should provide a good number of hours of game play. I've modified it (for my own use only) to use AV8B's instead of the A10's, so it works under 1.05 otherwise I can't try it out. I'll PM you a few minor ideas. (first thing that has got to go is that loooooooong intro ) Looking good. Edit: After playing it for a while, I find the hellfire missiles on the Cobra's make it all a bit easy. Yes at the moment only players with version 1.06 - 1.07b can play the mission. today i will release version 1.03 with many changes on AI defences and units. operation southern storm v1.03 light will be a full armed assault v1.05 compatible version. thanks for all the feedback allready. i am working on it. check back soon for updates. Bunks 0 Posted May 15, 2007 Hey Kev, I liked what Ive seen so far, some real great approaches. I just have a quick question. When I ran the mission it put a major strain on my system, so I opened up the pbo and looked around to see if load could be lightened. It was a bit surprising what the mission had vs the playability of it. Im wondering if there may be a script or two that may be causing the unexpected load? Not all of us have 6600 cpu and 8800 gtx setups But so far with what I could test, very nice indeed. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Personal Mission Information: With this mission i tryed to make a conflict situation so authentic as possible. this mission has improved enemy defences, ai behaviour an has a NEED of totaly Teamwork on gameplay! There is no way to run into the enemy and win. Go on and plan strategies together, build up groups with the Squad Manager or MySquad Manager in vehicles. Plan some bombing runs and further tactical movements together. The Planes, Choppers, Tanks and APC's dont rearm automaticaly. Your team needs to plan Supply missions. Rearm and refuel the choppers and planes coming back home from mission etc. Dont be scared to leave the vehicle your squad used back in field under cover, it will despawn only after 20 minutes. But if your vehicle is damaged, try to get some supply out there to repair it, if it destruct, you also need to wait about 20 minutes for respawn. This Mission has no Ranking system, why? Because on first hand nobody matters out there in war. You have your rank you choosed on startup, just like real soldiers have there rank when they go for duty. YOu could do all the work your doing with 1 respawnable vehicle instead of 7 to 10 of each vehicle. I realise what your going for but the performance hits are going to be through the roof with more than 10 players currently. Bunks 0 Posted May 15, 2007 Kev, i tweaked a few things in the editor and found if you change the time pause on the ups and do a respawn vehicle thing that d3d suggested it gets better. Have you considered using nbs Dynamic group creator? I did a few changes here and there and found it helps with the lag issue. I realise what your going for but the performance hits are going to be through the roof with more than 10 players currently. ... hi, thx for feedback, I found some points that causes the most issues. the mission is created on ArmA v1.07 Editor and thats the problem. 1.07 changes every unit id, that made an big bad bug on the light version so i needed to rewrite it per hand. after that i loaded it in ArmA 1.05 and fixed some bugs. Like your maintheme not found issue. and only now it is 100% compatible to ArmA 1.05 users. actual version of the mission is Operation: Southern Storm v1.04a Light But the main issue i am working on at the moment, is that there is a script that i dont know, that runs the hole time and makes performance issues. thats why all the performance bugs. the performance bug is not caused by the amount of vehicles. on CTI u can create 3times the amount of vehicles i use in this mission, airCav mission has an large amount of vehicles. The same on Evolution 1.5a . this missions have no performance issues. If i delete 1-3 vehicles i can delete my hole mission because it is worthless and not the mission i worked for. this is an authentic warfare production. the total amount of players in the mission is 40, the most of them are crewman and pilots. for each pilot 1 jet for each crewman 1 vehicle and sekondary chooseable vehicle. thats like i made the amount on vehicles. if an vehicle is destructed the player needs to wait 20 minutes until it is avaliable again. so he manage in team what to do. Also there will be no large battle in it without the hardware and the players. ArmA itself has a big issue, the game engine is made for up to 124 or more players each server, but it can handle only about 40 correctly. Thats why i am so disapointed on BIS at the moment. They have all the improvements and working features we are waiting for in VBS2 but they let us wait more then an 1 year now and what? no Tools, no Detail animated Vehicles (the only good detailed vehicle on arma: A-10 Thunderbolt), no Improvements, arcade weapon sounds etc. but back on topic. i am working on SouthernStorm 1.5 now and will check to find the scripting issues that runs the hole of time and makes the performance issues. greetz, kev Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

d3dsh33p 0 Posted May 17, 2007 wow... been playin this for a good 4 hours now with about 10 people and I gotta say this is really sweet... suggestions -needs an ammo clean up script -more enemies (infantry with anti armor, snipers on roofs randomly) i keep hearing tanks flying thru the air for some reason wow... i forgot all the rest... lots of kudos from all that were on the server, some even said they liked it better than the current favorite coop 4 people still in the server now if you wannt see whats up after a few hours and alot fo people in and out Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Kev 0 Posted May 17, 2007 thx for feedback d3dsh33p, sounds great. yes you are right i have seen this uncleaned ammo boxes. if everything works fine in a few minutes i have the next and for this point maybe the last update for the next several days. i will improve the TeamStatus and VehicleStatus Dialog and make some changes, i think the mission can get a few more units like snipers and AT/AA units also i will clean up the ammo boxes. what is your servers name? i life in germany and have seen some empty servers with my mission. maybe u have a other time set, its 5:30 in the morning now still working on mission improvements and i had only 4 hours sleep yesterday. ^^ i will check your server later on, give me the server name. i'll cant wait to met you there soldier. over and out.
