troop 0 Posted May 11, 2007 Dear Maruk, dear Suma, If you get to read this, please consider seriously. Do you own an 8800GTx card for your development machines? As you have noticed, I am sure, there appear to be a multitude of problems with this [new] types of Nvidia cards. I love ArmA, I really do..and because of this I am making you this offer. Myself and every owner of said cards would be very grateful, if you could fix each and every bug with this cards, like some you already managed to squish (fog) once and for all --- If you are willing to accept an offer for an NVidia 8800GTS 640MB card donation please say so and let me know. I am serious about it. ArmA is the successor to OFP and we will play it for years to come. This piece of hardware should help you to fix any bugs remaining. What do you say? baddo 0 Posted May 11, 2007 I just want to say that BIS is a commercial company, not a group of open-source maniacs who are not getting any money from elsewhere than their own pockets. Buying such a graphics card is small money for this kind of companies. Putting that aside, your offer is very generous and I raise my hat for you if you really are willing to give such an expensive graphics card away for a commercial company for no compensation. But I think BIS shouldn't have to buy a graphics card for testing if it works with their products. In my opinion BIS should get this kind of graphics card from Nvidia freely for testing purposes (and then return them when testing is over). That would make business sense for both Nvidia and BIS. One more thing: we have no clue if BIS has such a graphics card already or not.
bonko the sane 2 Posted May 11, 2007 think about it, they fixed the 8800 fog bug in 1.05 beta...one must assume they got it.
suma 8 Posted May 11, 2007 Do you own an 8800GTx card for your development machines? Yes, we do own a few of them. Unfortunately I have to say the drivers for them are not very mature and reliable. There seem to be quite serious problems in the area of VRAM allocation on the driver side, which are communicating with nVidia, however I cannot give any estimate when they will be solved.
