l mandrake 9 Posted May 2, 2007 A short while back Dyslecki posted an amazing vid of ARMA running with massively increased view distances - the impression given in his post was that this update was imminent... However I can find no mention of it in the fix lists for 1.06 or 1.07. Am I just blind or has this amazing new feature been shelved/kept for VBS2? Right now I never fly jets because of the low view distance and am really eager for this improvement...
spetznaz14 0 Posted May 2, 2007 This problem was semi fixed in the beta patch, but on 8800 series there is still some haze.
daikan 1 Posted May 2, 2007 you need glasses. it's in the 1.06 readme: Quote[/b] ]5137 - Fixed: Haze was too strong with large viewdistance. http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/ArmA:_Version_History#Version_1.

dirtylarrygb 0 Posted May 2, 2007 its the major bug fix about the fog/smog issus related to nV card, and have been solve for the pre G80 card, yet 8800 or later cards still have some fog issus through The haze after the beta fix is M I N O R, and as the * series with the latest drivers run ARMA at high res with all eye candy maxed it's not an issue. You can of course have zero haze by using a 7 series or ATI 1950 but then get 50% the performance of an 8 series is you are lucky. The latest 105 drivers fixed the 8 series in just about any game I have tried (Rainbow Six was a real pain) and are delivering AWESOME performance.
majoris 10 Posted May 2, 2007 so this fix is basically just getting rid of the view distance restriction, increasing performance at greater distances, or both?

frederf 0 Posted May 2, 2007 The view distance isn't being changed. The method of rendering haze is being changed so you see more at any given view distance. 8-series Nvidia cards as well as 7-servies Nvidia cards both see improvements. The 8-series sees less of an improvement.
