Try reading through this thread.

The vast majority seem to be ATI users, but i have an NIVIDIA Quad SLI 7950GX2 setup and i was getting this problem. I've had my GPUs replaced (under warrenty, thank god) and so far everything seems fine.

One thing i will point out however, and that was my GPUs were running at very high temperatures. I noticed after shutting ArmA down that my GPU temps were in the high 80s and low 90s. This was obviously not good.

I now believe this problem is heat related and has nothing whatsoever to do with drivers or ArmA. Maybe the GPUs which suffer this problem have poor cooling fans attached, as the engineer who replaced my GPUs said the fans were burnt out. All four of my GPUs were only 4 months old. ArmA is a very GPU intensive game and will test your rig to the full.

Your graphics card is overheating. Try underclocking it or try and cool it down manually with a fan. If all else fails return it. I had this problem with another game because the heatsink on my card wasn't working properly, so the card kept overheating. So I just returned the graphics card and they sent me a new one and everything was fine.

i suppose i havnt cleaned it out in a while... but i can play any other graphicly intense game and even overclock my card (which i less then a year old) with other games and get great performance without any kind of graphical glitches like this.... worth a try tho smile_o.gif thanks!! biggrin_o.gif

edit: yah reading over the thread i remember it doing it in Op:F too and i just waiting for ATI/BIs to fix it with a patch... but ill still clean/cool me pc smile_o.gif

From experience i too would haveto put this down to overheating, have you stress tested your gfx card?

Check the fan on your card is working too.

Try it with aqua mark.

Someone else posted VERY similar pics here,

He un OC'ed his video card problem went.

If your machine is OC'ed and you get the above pic time to hit default settings...

ok weird, my cards not overheating at all... even threw extra fans in there... ive tried fiddling with all the settings one by one to see if i could narrow down the issue... to no avail... i guess ill wait for a patch or whatever

welcome to my world!

This bug is caused by the memory handle leak in ATi's drivers

Check the thread posted by Marek & Suma, it has all the info you need.

Im in the same boat as you at the moment, and the only fix ive found so far that works for ME is to put my radeon 9800 back in and run CCC drivers version 5.8!

My x1950pro is useless for Arma at the moment

Im also ATI user and I have experienced extreme high time reloading textures, big fps jumps loading meshes groups (towns) and the most weird iluminations bugs as random fading to white or black for seconds...suddenly day turning night and viceversa. Bots "jumping" random positions when watched trough sniper scope....geting in a vehicle and not getting but having a constrained movement....

Well this game is far from perfect but when it runs well its the sweetest experience.

This bug IMHO has nothing to do with ATI drivers.

Before i had my GPUs replaced i too was getting the exact same problem. I have installed in my system 4 NIVIDIA 7950GX2s.

I had noticed the GPU temperatures were between 80 and 90 degrees right after shutting ArmA down. Now i've changed my GPUs and i've got additional cooling, i'm yet to see the problem reoccur. I'm almost tempted to take out my additional cooling to see if i get the problem, but i never want to see it again as those who've experienced it know how much of a nightmare it is.

If however the problem is not heat related, i would like to know how i can be the only NIVIDIA user who's experienced this problem. banghead.gif

I use Arma with an MSI GeForce 7600GS 512MB with Win2K Prof. SP3, and Vista Home Premium without errors.

I have overclocked the GPU and Vram, what can be done with that card without loosing the warranty.

The Card is cooled via an Heatpipe and got an extra fan to cool the card. The temp. of the GPU is never over 65°C, and i never got graphical artifacts or other weird errors.

I use only the latest official drivers for my hardware.

I was having the same issues as the topic creator (running an ATI x800XT along with a P4 3.2 GHz HT), but I did two things and haven't had the problem since.

1. I turned off hyperthreading in the BIOS.

2. I adjusted my AGP Aperture Size to 256 MB (from 128 MB).

The second one may vary (I would adjust the value to a few different options), but I did not need to change my drivers or do any of that in order to get rid of the very nasty graphics bug.

I played the U.S. version demo with no problem and I went out and bought the full U.S. version but I get a graphics bug where vehicles look like giant porcupines and the game crashes to desktop all the time.

pentium 4 3ghz

radeon pro 9800 128mb

2 gb ram

I have a screenshot but I don't know how to post it.  Has anyone else had this happen the graphics bug only happen with vehicles (land and air)
