Blazin - damn.

Voodoo - alas, I must concede defeat, since running Frap's video recording function on full reso drops my FPS into ~15 zone, which is unacceptable (both for viewing and for brag rights).

Although I cannot show you video evidence, I will give you some pics, if you will believe that I am not so much of a master Photoshopper that I faked them or dropped my settings. It's my word of honour that I did no such thing. OK, here we are.

settingsdi6.th.jpg

Session settings (note that 10km viewdistance prevents selecting terrain detail as high or very high).

paraisoho5.th.jpg

Paraiso from the highest mountain on south Sahrani.

Continued next post.

I can back cameron up with this, my 8800 GTX (which is same oc as his and a slower CPU I have an AMD 4000 64 X1) also plays everything high even SSAA fine at a general 30 FPS at 1024x768, about 25 at 1280x1024 and 15-20 at 1600x1024.

Turn off SSAA, drop shadesr to normal not very high and terrain to low and I can max everything else and still beat 30 FPS in MP.

Your right 10Km vD is only good for missions you make your self or in general SP stuff. Would be nice if player could have their own VD in MP for their own machine.

Erm I tried to cap high FPS fraps at high res, sadley not a good idea on a single core my machine had a small fit.

Since the new 105 beta shaders and terrain seem to have a huge impact on FPS at high res on a 8800.

=> Intel E6600 C2D @ 3.6GHz

hum, you've overclocked your cpu +1.2GHz?!?

holly shit...

im running an E6600 too... never tried to go above 2.88GHz

whats your FSB set to?!?

well, im running arma at the native resolution of my 22" widescreenmonitor @ 1680x1050

maybe this makes the major difference...

My system:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600

ASUS P5B Deluxe (Intel P965 Chipset)

Point of View GeForce 8800GTX 768MB DDR3-RAM

4x Corsair 1024MB XMS2 800MHz Dual-Channel DDR2-RAM (4096 MB)

FSB is 400, Core is at 1.4625V.

What MoBo did you have? And have you touched any other voltages than Core?

well my system is now as follows..

Cpu = Athlon 4200 64x2

GFX = Inno3d 8800GTS 320 mb

Memory = 2.5gig Kingston PC3200

Sound = Audigy 2 ZS

Monitor = Fujitsu/seimens 22" widescreen

Visibility 3500

Reso 1024x768

Terrain detail = High

Objects Detail = High

Shading = Normal

Postprocess = Low

Antistropic Filtering = Normal

Shadow Detail = Normal

Antialiasing = Low

Blood = High

that gets me a steady 35-45 FPS in all areas

Pretty disappointed at the reso I need to choice, to have the game run decently & look good visually - maybe I have something wrong with my system that I need to play this way, but games like GRAW2 (which I beta test) I can crank everything to max & it plays & looks beautiful...

@Easy_tiger

can you use fraps to have an "official" FPS count, please?

What motherboard you use?

I ask this because i believe my motherboard (ABIT AI7) is slowing ALOT my game.

I think i do have the same system and when i use the settings you mentioned the game is playable but to fluid as i wish and as it should like you said it does, i find hard to use those settings having a playable  fluid fun game.

Note that im using 1,5G Ram => 1x1G ddr400 + 1x512mb ddr400

Hi,

My motherboard is a Intel Desktop Board (Intel D865GBF)

Your RAM configuration MIGHT be contributing to your performance, If possible try to match your ram (ie. 2x512 or 2x 1gig) this will also allow you to run your RAM in dual paging mode with will speed things up a bit for you.

I'll install FRAPS at some point this weekend and see what FPS its throwing out but judging by the fluidity of gameplay and experience with testing FPS on OFP with FRAPS in the past i can confirm that gameplay never drops below 25/30FPS for me.

I have 2.5 gig of PC3200, would it make any difference taking out the 512mb stick, leaving in 2x 1 gig sticks?

I have a bit of a mish mash of memory, 1 gig stick is Kingston, other is samsung & the 512 stick is Kingston..
