Snipers do fire from chopper's..here's some of our boy's showing Top Class Mark'smanship..

At the sharp end 02.12.05 14:02

SAILORS in HMS Cumberland and RFA Wave Knight struck a ‘sledgehammer blow’ at drug traffickers when they pounced on a speedboat hurtling across the Caribbean packing £200m of cocaine.

The bust made Royal Navy history: the drug runners were stopped in their tracks by outstanding marksmanship by Royal Marine snipers, who wrecked the ‘go-fast’s’ engine with four direct hits fired from the back of a Lynx helicopter.

Created this thread that complets this one.. more vehicles are involved in the other thread. Please keep it for future discussion. Thanks to the mods.

I would assume there is a "lock" per se put on the soldier once he boards a vehicle, if someone could figure out how to remove that lock, it could probably happen.

It's not that simple. I'm not exactly how it works myself but I know it's not as simple as that. There are also many problems with trying to impliment this feature. One, because of how the engine handles weapons and vehicle crews, would be that you'd be able to shoot through any parts of the vehicle model and any other crew proxies in the vehicle. There's no way to get prevent this even if the engine was modified unless you force them to not be able to point there weapons at anything else inside the vehicle (ex: out of a window, or if in the back of a truck, no pointing in). It would probably also fail a lot under laggy conditions in MP, since it would require a LOT of synchronization.

There are many (and believe me there's no way to predict all of them) potential problems that could surface from this as well, just look at my post in the 2nd page of this thread. When implimenting new features you can't overlook anything, you have to consider every aspect of how it will work, under what conditions and to what extent it will work, and then whether other things will still work alongside it. Just look at my example about the turrets and related problems with scripting with them on the 2nd page.

I'm in favor of it. Would be good for other vehicles too, as I hate the feeling of sitting there with a rifle in hand watching as an enemy soldier lifts up his RPG and not being able to do anything, but pray I get lucky.

Thats pretty nice. Dunno if he just couldnt look down, or if he chose not to.. but looking down and shooting would be very necessary seeing as you wouldnt want the chopper leaning to ur side and flying sideways just so u can shoot towards the ground.
