Blanco 0 Posted April 9, 2007 I installed the new codec, but I don't see any difference in framerate. Whatever, since 1.05 beta+ and 7.3 catalyst Arma runs pretty well.

deevius 0 Posted April 9, 2007 Horuss, it seems that the Realtek drivers are not compatible with my system.... so looks like im stuck with the Vinyl AC97 drivers for now.
Dwarden 1125 Posted April 9, 2007 well... I dont suppose you know how I can remove the Vinyl AC97 drivers do you...?because if I try to uninstall them, then restart the computer... the driver is still installed. Â and obviously trying to have 2 different sound drivers on the same system probably is not a good idea.. Vinyl AC97 is related to VIA audio products ... take in mind they often use own hardware solution http://www.via.com.tw/en/products/audio/ get the needed drivers from http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?PageID=2&Type=1 or Your mainboard manufacturer support site in all cases i suggest to avoid mixing/switching drivers Realtek VIA Vinyl ADI (Analog Devices Inc) SoundMax etc. !!! yes in some cases it works (like for users with SoundStorm 2 able use Realtek drivers as hardware wise it used ALC chip but on other hand they lost all the features of NVIDIA SS2 etc.)

KeyCat 131 Posted September 12, 2007 I recently built a new ArmA rig and using the built in soundcard that is based on Realteks HD Audio (ALC889A) chip. This new HDA standard sure sounds better than the old AC97 standard but I'm having issues with crackling/popping sounds in ArmA when turning my head around (most notably when a few veichles/helis/planes is around). Wonder if anyone have any ideas on how to fix/improve this? Currently using the recently released R1.75 version of the driver. On the positive side I noticed that the volumes in ArmA is much better balanced with this new soundcard compared to my old SB Live! 5.1. I no longer hear helis etc. taking of from other side of Sharani. Now, if I only could get rid of the crackling effects while turning my head... /KC
