opteryx 1562 Posted April 7, 2007 Okay, so I've been reading on the forums that increasing your AGP aperture to 256 in the BIOS settings might get rid of the VERY annoying LOD/texture bugs, so I access my BIOS and being extremely incompetent when it comes to computers I barely have an idea what I'm looking at. I look through all the menus and can not find anything which says AGP or aperture, so I leave the BIOS settings ASAP without changing anything before I mess up my PC. Can anybody please tell me what settings to change? I have no idea what AGP or aperture is and have never changed anything in my BIOS before so if some could be nice enough to help me I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks! PS: A screenshot wouldn't hurt if possible.
Jack-UK 0 Posted April 7, 2007 Some BIOS' for example AwardBios (i think thats what i have..) doesnt have the AGP Aperture setting. But u shouldnt need to fiddle with the aperture in the next patch... it should fix itself. You tried the ArmA 1.05+ Beta patch?
opteryx 1562 Posted April 7, 2007 Quote[/b] ]You tried the ArmA 1.05+ Beta patch? Yes, LOD and texture loading is somewhat better but far from playable, especially in MP.
fitzee 7 Posted April 8, 2007 I have no idea what AGP or aperture is and have never changed anything in my BIOS before Hi. First off, are you sure you have an AGP vid card? Pci express setups dont have an agp arpeture. If you do have AGP then you should find the setting under "advanced chipset features" or something similar. Also, be sure you have enough system ram. Setting agp arperture to 256 means the bios reserves 256 megs of your ram for extra vid memory. example: 1 gig ram becomes 768 megs. Hope this helps.

CallMeSir 0 Posted April 8, 2007 Fitzee You are wrong, you do not lose 256mb of system RAM by setting you aperture to 256 or any other setting. It is used dynamically in 4k pages, so you won't see you RAM gobbled up, unless you have a very high resolution and texture setting (not an issue with a 6600). If you have in your BIOS try 256, you may gain a frame or two - though 128 is usually more than enough.
Infam0us 10 Posted April 8, 2007 What is your type of Mobo? From that I would be able to tell you exactly how to change it, and you could test before and after to see if it helps

From that I would be able to tell you exactly how to change it, and you could test before and after to see if it helps Lol I haven't got a freakin' clue what a "Mobo" is but it doesn't matter because I did manage to find the aperture setting and set it to 265. From what I've seen so far I still have some LOD issues .... HOWEVER!! it seems as if there some rather great improvement, both the campaign and MP is looking playable now! But I still need to to some extensive testing to verify that it's not just a random fluke where all seems well.... Still, so far so good!
Infam0us 10 Posted April 8, 2007 Mobo = Motherboard ... And if you don't know, you would benefit from downloading this tool CPU z It doesn't need to even be installed! But run it, and it'll tell you all about the components of your PC - Happy Easter!
