maukings 0 Posted April 1, 2007 I have a Trackir 3 withouth the vector. I have used it with lock on for a long time and has worked fine but it is not the case with Arma. Both during single and multiplayer, it stops working for a few seconds and the kicks back in. It does this several time. I haven't what is causeing this pattern. The Trackir shows green light even when its not responding. I have the games update and the software update. Can someone help? It is quite annoying.

maukings 0 Posted April 2, 2007 nope. I uninstalled it and reinstalled from the orginal CD. I'm not sure if the latest software is meant to be for the trackir 3 and 4 or just 4. So i have he original software withthe game updates
sirex 0 Posted April 2, 2007 goto your settings and hit the tracking one so you can see what the trackir sees. is it a clear image of your points, or is there extra crap / red or green patches ?

NaturalPoint_Vincent 0 Posted April 2, 2007 The 4.1.XX TrackIR software is designed to work with both the TrackIR 3 as well as the TrackIR 4. Try a clean install of the TrackIR software. Remove the TrackIR software by doing the following: a. Click "Start" b. Click on the "Control Panel" c. Click "Add/Remove Programs" d. Find "TrackIR" and click "Change/Remove" e. Once launched it will give the option to completely remove it. f. Delete the NaturalPoint folder at the following location, C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint g. Download and reinstall the software from the following location, Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/06-support/support-download-software-and-manuals.html
maukings 0 Posted April 3, 2007 Thanks for the reply Vin, I did that already but it was still freezing. I did notice something. My desktop resolution was different than my ingame resolution. I adjusted them so they were both the same and I haven't had the problem ever since. Does the track IR require same resolution from desktop to ingame to work properly? I'll report back when I have spent more time testing this.
memnoch 0 Posted April 3, 2007 I have a desktop of 1600 x 1200 and in-game is 1280 x 1024 and I don't have any problems. Using the Track IR 4 Pro and latest drivers.
NaturalPoint_Vincent 0 Posted April 3, 2007 Shouldn't make a difference to the TrackIR....

As it's a lower resolution I run it in Windowed mode, and TIR runs just fine like that.
maukings 0 Posted April 7, 2007 reporting back in. Resolution is not the cause of the problem. Software was erased and reinstalled yet issue remains. I wondering if its realted to my system chugging while uploading CPU info or GPU info. I don't have issues at all with the trackir in other games like lock on though. Vin, I'm using left Ctrl key to talk on teamspeak, i wonder if pressing that key has anything to do with the freezes. I doubt it. Could there be a conflict with they keys settings in game? Does the trackir input stop working if there is lag in multiplayer?
maukings 0 Posted April 7, 2007 Update, Another person confirmed that lag will freeze the game and track ir for a few seconds. I'm currently checking performance during single player
NaturalPoint_Vincent 0 Posted April 9, 2007 make sure you have periodic news check disabled in the TrackIR software, as it could have something to do with the TCP/IP stack....
DaSquade 0 Posted May 4, 2007 I'm just finished installing my new system and came to the point to check my TrackIR 4 pro (no trackclip, only vextor). I noticed i have the same problem like the other few guys, where the tracker looses track of the dots at random times. The device itself isn't running hotter then normally and it worked perfectly under my previous system. I tested purely in the software itself (so no gamelag, witch i don't have anyway ). I had installed latest version (Version 4.1.030 - Final B), uninstalled it again and made sure the check for updates wasn't on (witch was off on previous tests), but still the 'lag' is there. Like said, fully new system made out: E6600 EVGA 8800GTX KO ACS3 StrikerExtreme 2gb Kit Corsair XMS 4-4-4-12 74Gb and 150Gb raptors drives SoundMax (soundcard by default on striker) as main hardware parts. All updates (BIOS and drivers) too latest versions (except for EVGA where i atm running 'their' latest released drivers. Like said, system runs perfectly, meaning no lag at all on 1280x1024 VB 3000 All very high-high. But like mentioned, in the profile tester of the software it already gives me the intercuptions. Only thing i can think of might be the USB factor, as i currently use multiple devices on it. But my trackIR is connected directly in the mobo USB ports and i didn't encountered any power problems on any of my other devices (including Wacom witch was during the tests unplugged, but i know this one consumes a big deal of power by default, but like said unplugged but knowing this one runs perfect on the USB ports so i think it isn't a power issue after all). Any suggestions Vincent or others? Was wondering if some of the other who encountered simular problems were able to get it fixed... Like said it runned perfectly on my previous system (3Ghz, 1Gb, 9800pro) so i know it isn't my trackIR itself. Looking at the release date of the latest driversoftware version it could be i had used an older version, although not sure and have been playing some days ago and afaik i had done update, but not 100%. On the other hand, if i see the last post of the ones having problems was before latest release date i don't think it is a driver issue. Please help :s. EDIT: Well, apperently the 'lag' was indeed USB power related. Somehow, the default USB ports are USB1 or underpowered/slower USB2 port. Now connected to the expanded USB2 slotcard and so far so good . So maybe it helps others to make sure you have a 'real' USB2 port...
NaturalPoint_Vincent 0 Posted May 4, 2007 Some USB ports can be slightly under powered, or the power saving features of Windows, can turn them down to save energy... 1- Always make sure you have the latest chipset drivers and/or motherboard bios installed. 2 - Turn off any kind of power saving features for your USB ports? In the "Device Manager" you can right click the "USB Hub"(s), that show, and then select properties. On the power management tab, uncheck the box that allows the computer to turn off the USB port to save power (i.e. uncheck the box). Sometimes that has an impact on the connectivity of the devices. DaSquade 0 Posted May 4, 2007 Little update: Well in the TrackIR setup tool it runs as it should now, but ingame it again starts to loose track at times. Very strange. Normally i should have all the latest drivers, bios and software... I checked your advice regarding the power shutdown feature, witch i have disabled now, but i still receive track loose ingame (only). I checked the consumed power of the trackIR and it comes down to 286 mA witch should be ok as that port can handle up to 500mA (will check in a few if it goes up during game use, but i daught it). Help . EDIT: more test info So i don't have the issue when ArmA isn't running. When i test with ArmA running i have the issue. Meaning, ingame and also when ArmA is on the background and i test it in the previewer of TrackIR. It works normally for about 5-10sec (depends) and then freezes. When i press the recenter button it automaticly works fine again, but then again after a sort time it freezes/lags again. EDIT: Latest test news I think i found what was bugging. As i have my new system and still do a lot of monitoring and one of the things running almost contantly new atm is...NTune, the NV monitoring tool. When i closed it, trackIR seams to run stable now .
