max power 21 Posted March 26, 2007 Hi allI think in all probability that Crossfire would not improve speed much but the extra memory and shaders of the second card might allow you to increase your view distance and maybe image quality without as much of a performance hit. It may be worth testing. Kind Regards walker I tested it (initially) and there is no difference in the amount of visual bling I can run smoothly. I'm not sure why you think that there would be no benefit in frames per second with crossfire enabled, especially with the splintercell3.exe which uses AFR. If you have both cards working on alternate frames there should be a marked effect. Maybe you know better than me but I'm not sure how it could be that you have each card rendering alternate frames and come out with no net gain. Regarding Dwarden: Also I think that it's possible to break crossfire somehow. I hesitate to give details because my memory of the conversation I had is foggy but the gyst of it was that certain games, especially some that 'play best on nvidia' can do something to make it so crossfire can't run. I speculate that ArmA does something that crossfire can't handle (yet), and therefore, crossfire isn't running with ArmA. I agree that it's best to bombard ATI/AMD with customer service tickets. I'll be giving them another one in a few minutes (I already informed them about the demo a couple of months ago). Anyone care to join me? edit: make no mistake though, I'm not make any claims about knowing, I'm certainly a layman when it comes to this sort of thing! jordan_dj21 0 Posted March 27, 2007 I installed the drivers last night. At first it seemed smoother and there were less pop ups and glitches than before but then after an hour it seemed to be the same as before. There was still the texture issue to, especially when i team switched. Initially after switching the textures would be missing for a second. I have the setting on low. Dwarden 1125 Posted March 30, 2007 omg why hasen't anyone asked the question of just WTF is this? nearly 100mb for a BETA driver? seriously..... what the hell is it because that driver is both 32 and 64 bit (XP) and same goes for Vista ... also includes buggy CCC and VIVO/TVo drivers ... closing this thread as later official ATI release is out ...
