Hardlocks and bluescreens

Unfortunely, a fresh install not fixes my problem. But after read the dump windows file i can confirm that´s is a SECUROM issue.

After ARMA, all Based Securom game crashes to the same problem. And before i don´t have any problem.

Probaly because i have a legitim ALCOHOOL installed.

I will delete any securom traces and other "things" write for this kind of software protection im my HD.

Of course i will not play ARMA anymore.

Did you reinstall windows Xp then arma BUT not install alchol 120 again?

Did alchol 120 change something on your DVD ROM/RW drive bios?

Would not a fresh new HD with a new Xp on fix this?

You might want to contact securerom and ask them for advice, if you are NOT installing alchol 120 on a fresh XP the game should work.

If I understand right, once you install alchol 120 you can never play a securerom game again on your PC? Even if you wipe and reinstall? If that is the case I would also contact Alchol 120 and ask them how to fix a decent uninstall!

You might want to flash you DVD bios as well from the manufacturer website. Or just buy a new one and consider that 120 broke your current one.

How i said before, i´m not reinstall XP, i make a dual boot with XP, and then a fresh install without any other programs (office, alcoholl, etc...),only the essentials (drivers and direct x).

I dont´want to format my HD because the game.

For my surprise i install ARMA and have the same problem before. I installed other game and no problem could play it a lot.

When the game crash, the windows create a minidump file, that´s report a problem with csrss.exe wich is a windows program. But the csrss.exe it´s not the vilan but the victim.

I change windows to create a complete dump file, and find the SECURON ISSUE. After a search over internet i found how securom works and how could it fuc... with your hardware sometimes. Some people have been had this same problem with original games and alcohool and daemon tools. Others don´t have nothing.

I found how to fix it (securon write some "things" in your hd)but i will not install or buy any other securom games. This thing is starting looks like a STARFORCE protection, more based in hardware then software.

Thanks for reply and help

Hi all

Wow I am suprised alchol writes such a bad installer/unistaller maybe it is spyware in it that hangs around on your disc, I heard that alchol puts some kind of root kit on your drive or messes around with parts of your drive it is not suposed to or something. After all Securom must detecting something left behind if it still picks it up once you have unintalled it as you said.

You are better using some thing like Nero for burning CDs or DVDs. I would never use cracker rubish that installed a rootkit or fools around with parts of a drive it is not suposed to.

To moan about ArmA not working when you have installed a known cracking tool is an interesting idea.

Kind Regards walker

i remember that lot of issues with Securom (and many other ring 0 drivers)

was due to "leftover" Daemon tools obsolete file

(some .sys or .drv from version ~3.47 which was used to load virtual drive)

this file used custom name and often were not uninstalled with DT etc.

i suggest You get Autoruns from Sysinternals

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/utilities/autoruns.mspx

and check deeply services and drivers on OS boot ...

Just to add a bit more info

I bought the "german" copy of ArmA

I only re-installed Windows

I did not re-format my harddrive and start from scratch

so it really wasn't that big a deal. all info and file were saved

Before the fix

I was also experiencing blue screen once in a while with BF2 online

I would get a blue screen and a message about rdbss.sys stop error

after searching for the answer for this error

I concluded it was linked to a microsoft update

I tried updating several times and it didn't make a difference

But after the windows re-install some how I feel I was able to update the correct files with a fresh windows install

its been about ten days since then and I have played both games ArmA and BF2 for 4 to 5 hours at a time with no crash to blue screen or lock ups

I hope this helps

Robot you could play ARMA if you buy a fresh hard disk and just install windows on that clean.

been reading this afternoon Alchol 120, clone DVD, any Dvd etc etc and many of these copy removal softwares DO install rootkits. They install them to try and stop DRM tools installing.

Downside is yes it means you can play a Cd from sony and not have it mess up your PC. But many game DRM software also then refuse to work with your PC.

So if you have this sort of software as the guy says above A FORMAT may be the only cure and redoing the BIOS for your DVD/CD drive.

Add to that some MS updates are trying to mess with anti DRM software and you could have alot of trouble with Games from now on.

A new sata or ide HD is only 30 pounds if that these day if you want anti DRM software you will have to get a second drive.

505 you should put a badge on the case saying COPY PROTECTED (rainbox 6 has a warning!wink_o.gif might not work on your PC, or at least put up a list of software that WILL interfere with ARMA on this site.

If you have any Anti DRM software, some Spyware can also behave as Anti DRM, you need to format your drive or buy a new HD and reinstall XP on it and possibly flash you DVD/CD bios to play ARMA

I must say i solve my problem !!!!!!!!!! biggrin_o.gif

First i apologize to everyone wich my post make unconfortable. I push so far!!!! i admit. i apologize for that. But bohemia support makes me angry with him obvious answer. My fault(mea culpa) whistle.gif

I remove any traces from securom, but it´s don´t solve my problema, because when reinstall a game using securom, it´s is installed again. And before ARMA i can play other games based on securom.

dirtylarrygb i already have 3 HD in my computer, one of them SATA 200 GB. ARMA is installed in this HD.

The problem that i have been had is a hardware problem, that only afffect SECUROM games. Others game i don´t have trouble. It curious don´t think?

I open my computer, remove any cable, memories, clean up motherboard and put all together again.

Installed ARMA and finaly i´m playing it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no more crashs, no problem using alcohool.

Well again i apologize for my posts before.

PLEASE....NEW CUSTOMER BUY THIS GAME, IT´s deserves it, it´s a cool and enjoyable game.

My only problem is with joystick sensitive, i have a thrustmaster and can´t control cobra with it. The game must have a joystick sensitive control to change. but i will post it later. for now i will play to get some fun.....

Thanks a lot to everyone!

Well, i must say i'm impressed by your last post since in

most of the cases posts like that are missing after ppl blaming devs just to solve the issue themselves later.

Hats off - you're a man smile_o.gif

I didn't want to flame you before btw - all i wanted to point

out is that not every problem is caused by a sw/developer

and not everything has to be sorted by them.

Good to hear that you got the game running and like it and

that you can also enjoy in ArmA now - because that's what you've paid your money for. smile_o.gif

Well I thought that I would never be able to play ArmA, because there is not a chance that I would re-install windows just because something is badly programmed.

What I did do was buy more RAM (I have 2 gb now) to be able to play other games, and well...ArmA started working perfectly as well! smile_o.gif

Thanks for all the help guys, I really appreciate it!
