Giova_BLH 0 Posted March 4, 2007 I'm absolutly FURIOUS ! In opposite of what has been said, the patch 1.05 doesn't Unlock all languages ! it just unlock english language. I have bought German Arma just when it was released around 3 month ago. I knew that it was fully bugged, not finished, and accepted that because i'm fan of OFP/Arma since the beta demo of OFP. So i was one of the first customers to give the money, and what do i have Back? a version that (exactly as OFP) contains all languages, that can technicaly let me acces to my own language. But there is a F....NG commercial restriction that punish me to had paid the game first !!!! that's why i am so sad, feel to has been Abused, and come here to complain agains that. So what i am supposed to do? pay the game Twice? NO WAY !!! i'm not Edmond Rotchild So i hav no other solutions than : 1) Steal the game in a shop of my country or 2) modify .pbo to toggle languages, and so , be considered as a cheater, cannot read briefingFrench. That's great PS : of course i tryed to force into arma.cfg language="French"; deleted all directories, registry entry, made many uninstall/reinstall but that F....K commercial protection is well made because when i do that, the game becomes German again I'm REALLY FURIOUS about that!!!! Fred DM 0 Posted March 4, 2007 i understand your anger, but i believe that initially nobody said you would later be able to choose your language. so at the time we bought the German version there was no promise that you could change it to any other language later. why did you still buy the german version, then? you know that there is a French version out, don't you? zinc 0 Posted March 4, 2007 What's the big deal in releasing 'one' universal ArmA version with selectable languages anyway? All these version = much more work
Mr_Tea 0 Posted March 4, 2007 What's the big deal in releasing 'one' universal ArmA version with selectable languages anyway? All these version = much more work That could have been possible, with one big worldwide publisher. Now there are many different contracts between BIS and the various publishers. That`s the problem.

Now there are many different contracts between BIS and the various publishers. That`s the problem. but Morphicon, for example, could have included both the translated German version and the original English version. i don't know why the hell they had to translate Marian Quandt. with patch 1.05, i can switch from German to English, but that darn reporter keeps speaking German. it makes no sense. celery 8 Posted March 4, 2007 you guys seem to understand english just fine, what's the problem? Indeed. I would rather play all my games in English instead of my own language. English is for computers, German is for machinery and French is for... ordering expensive meals.

JasonF 0 Posted March 5, 2007 Is it possible to modify the .csv files in the language.pbo? Maybe take the "French" word collumns and paste them over the "German" collums...
Wolfrug 0 Posted March 5, 2007 @JasonF Hm, good idea -> but why not simply change the ordering of the languages. AFAIK, the language.pbo works a bit like the stringtable.csv file doesn't it? So up above all the strings there should be something like LANGUAGE, English, French, German STRM_Stuff, Hi!, Salut!, Hallo! Or whatever. So maybe just making it believe "english" is "french" should suffice? Just a random thought...ask sickboy, he seems to know how that stuff works. Mogley 0 Posted March 5, 2007 I have both the German Morphicon release and my cousin has the UK 505 release. I live in the US so I want english. Heres what I did before the 1.05 patch came out. I took my cousins 505 version (so that I could go up to 1.04 for a few weeks before the patch) and installed from his disk using my german key code. Worked just fine. So I start the game and the splash screen, all menus, and multiplayer are in german. But the campaign is now in english. So what we figured out is this, language is defined by the CD key itself. Campaign cutscenes are programmed to each CD according to the country it was produced. So no matter what the reporters and such in the cutscenes are going to be speaking whatever language was programmed on the install disk. So it seems that even now 1.05 will let you select a languge, that will just be for the menus and stuff. The campaign will always be whatever the cutscenes were on your install disk. JasonF 0 Posted March 5, 2007 From what people told me, french is also good for having a sexy accent over teamspeak   Who told you that? I just tried recompiling the language.pbo after overwriting the German collumns with the French stuff.  It didn't work- everything was still in German.  I don't know where else the game would be reading the language info from... Maximus_G 0 Posted March 6, 2007 I've got Russian version. I'm really disappointed i can't switch the language to English. Don't know who and how is making russian language pack for BIS (it did slightly change in 1.05), but the result is kinda sad.
