MehMan 0 Posted March 3, 2007 Well, I've noticed quite a few sound problems in ArmA, mainly my gun couldn't be heard firing and a few other sounds just disappeared, greatly destroying the atmosphere. I've tried turning off hardware acceleration, nothing, EAX, nothing, I've played around in DxDiag, nothing. But then I started seeing a pattern. The RADIO! Yep, the radio seems to be bugged. The leader says something on the radio like so: 1: 5, target that machinegunner But sometimes it doesn't complete that message, it just goes, 1: 5, (noise) That noise goes on for a while and then just ends. After that you cannot send any radio messages out. And also you cannot hear your gun and a few other sounds. So the problem, in my eyes, is that the bug occurs when the radio message isn't completed. It could be that, but it could be another problem. I have an Audigy 2 ZS(latest drivers), Windows XP sp2. But I doubt my hardware is the problem. It could be related. Anybody else having these problems?

BroK3n 0 Posted March 3, 2007 yep... probably a lot of CTDs happen because of sound-related issues too (fire rockets, CTD. Car explodes, CTD. Sniper rifle fires, CTD. etc.) imho the sound engineer didnt do a good job for the game engine. Not that i can do any better...
Huyrel 0 Posted March 17, 2007 I've the same problem: loosing weapons fire sounds and radio audio after starting a mission (XP SP2, Audigy 4 Pro latest drivers). What's CTDs?
troop 0 Posted March 17, 2007 Also Audigy 2 ZS here and confirmed losing sounds after Radio msg. Same static noise heard after last successful radio command. I observed this happening, if too much AI is present on map.. and I get it more frequent, if I have more than the usual 11 soldiers with me. (Say; 30 total) - Sideeffect is, I can no longer give commands to my soldiers; complete command feature seems 'locked' up. (But isnt..) Usually, it resolves itself after some minutes. (Note: When responsiveness returns, *all* commands given during the non-responsiveness are carried out immediately in an queue one after another;..the commands were kind of 'recorded' by the game..but got stuck.) If not, saving/reloading helps. Also, Alt-tabbing sometimes fixes it.
Universel 0 Posted March 24, 2007 Audigy 2 and same problem here. On some multiplayer games I lose half of the sound (my gun, foot steps, motor...). The fact is if I keep connecting to these servers I WILL ALWAYS get this no sound bug, whereas on other servers all is fine. The same map on a given server with 65 ppl can play very well, while on another server with 40 ppl I get the bug... Disable HW and EAX acceleration didn't help. Stugwi 0 Posted March 30, 2007 At first i played single player missions and my sound was not a problem. I then installed FDF sound pack and again ran single player without any issues (nice addon FDF btw). Then i played multi. What usually happens is that the sound works fine at first, then after a period of time i start loosing voice comms, then gun sounds, explosions and basically sound aspects dissapear until there is no sound I have tried turning on/off ~EAX & hardware acc. I have tried running the game without FDF sound pack and the same prob occours. I thought maybe my card was getting weary. I have had it mmm maybe 4-5 years and it is an sound blaster audigy with break out box (pretty much top of the range then). I have no problems exiting multi, going to audio options and adjusting music, sound effects, and voice comms and the preview sounds r just fine:tup: My card works with everyother application/game and this phenomenon is just plain wierd and totally spoils my online play:rolleyes:
