Infam0us 10 Posted February 24, 2007 I'm not sure, the name of the OPFOR Special Forces sounds Spanish to me, but they use Russian equipment. But then again its a fictional island

I'm not quite sure I got the jist of it, does that mean it was a former British Colony?

Spanish-speaking Communists using 100% Russian equipment is not that far-fetched though when you think about it.
Heatseeker 0 Posted February 25, 2007 They speak english to confuse the western enemy. " Hey! who said that? Was it us or was it them?" . If you find secret documents they are likely to be written in spanish.

I agree though, they all speak in English to confuse us
rellikki 7 Posted February 25, 2007 100% Russian equipment? But they have their own camouflage, right?
Guest Ti0n3r Posted February 25, 2007 They speak Spanish. Take a look at the "Death to the traitors" (in Spanish) signs found all over North Sahrani

To be honest half of the wolrd use AK's, RPGs, etc. Because they are reliable weapons. That doesn't make half the world Russian Federation, does it?

Balschoiw 0 Posted February 25, 2007 I already added it to the ArAs wishlist some months ago as I think it would add a lot of atmosphere if you face enemies in close combat that give orders and reports in a language that is different to your own coms. Like FDF did? Unfortunetly i dont think BIS will go that far.. but i agree. This thread reminds me of the old discussions about the OPF ruskies having russian language instead of english or the crappy RH accented voices.
-CS-SOBR-1st-I-R- 0 Posted February 25, 2007 I remember ECP had this aswell... I believe it was version 1.085 I really made the atmosphere cooler... when you threw a grenade towards the russians the screamed out "NJET" or "GRANATA". This was brilliant, I loved it. Infam0us 10 Posted February 25, 2007 Imo you can't define a Army based on the equipment it uses, for instance the British Army use the SA80 which is a french designed rifle. I think as mentioned earlier this answers all the questions I wanted to know

People are just saying that the SLA and RACS should have their own voice files (spanish) instead of the english comands, ala FDF mod. In Arma we can hear the oposing a.i. soldiers shouting the comands and its weird to hear them in english. Like.. if someone makes a german mod it would be great to have the voice comands in german too .
Balschoiw 0 Posted February 26, 2007 [b said: Quote[/b] ]Unfortunetly i dont think BIS will go that far.. Why not ? They got little to loose implementing something that will actually make sense and add atmosphere to the game. Besides that I´m pretty sure that the com could help out with voice acting /recording incase they are afraid of the costs. The voiceacting in Arma is "not-that-topnotch" anyway. Maybe a reworked and extended voice-com system could be contributing to ArAs getting even more attractive. It´s like the commandos you hear over headset and from the speaking unit ingame. They both sound identical and it really sounds funny if you are close to the guy issuing orders with the little radioclick delay echoing. I guess in aspects of sound ArAs has indeed some nice features but the radio com system and live units speaking could need a little bit extra work. Right now it´s like ArAs is halfway there, but it would actually take not very much to bring it to a really good level of voicecoms and hearable conversations. Things to be fixed, extended: - Different languageset for one side - Either alter radiocoms "on-the-fly" with a little distortion effect or edit the existing ones to have different sets for live - talk and radio coms - Rework some of the existing sounds as they do sound very botched at times and do not sound very homogenic. (Sometimes it sounds like sentences were recorded, simply cut apart and are used like "bricks" to form messages. If you want to do such you have to take care that the ssounds are homogenic without too much enthusiasm in the voice as it simply sounds like cut/copy/paste right now at times.) If there is some effort put into these segments the result could be very much better as what we have today. For Game 2 I hope they switch to a computer based live speech engine that generates messages on the fly with no prerecorded samples.
