kronzky 5 Posted February 26, 2007 I've started a dedicated thread in the MP-Forum where we can discuss the specifics of a shared ban list: Public Ban List.
dmarkwick 261 Posted February 26, 2007 Private games with known friends is the best way to play. It's all I ever play and I haven't met one TK nonce yet
Hostilian 11 Posted February 26, 2007 People should be able to complain about Admins too.. I have seen some disgraceful behaviour by Admins - Kicking someone because they had the audacity to kill the Admin (fairly), kicking because someone disagreed with what the Admin said etc etc. There are a lot of mini Hitlers around when it comes to server Administration, so please be careful how this list is produced! #C
Rambo-16AAB 0 Posted February 26, 2007 which is why servers should be vetted before being able to submit bans,
nm-rosenrot 0 Posted February 26, 2007 yeah ive seen it alot in joint operations servers too, when clan members are given admin rights and abuse it, with bad chat ingame.. Â in live for speed(online racing sim) you can ban from the server for a number of days, which is a good idea.. ie 7days or 365 etc.. with the command /ban playername 7 hi rambo... im ex 16aab too
Hostilian 11 Posted February 26, 2007 How does one "Vet" a server? Who decides which servers get 'Authorised'? I have seen a couple of Admins on Dedicated servers from very well known OFP clans behave (as mentioned) disgracefully. I would think (with this particular clan in mind) that they would be authorised to add to this list... Personally, I do NOT think this list should be shared at all unless you know the Admin really well that you are taking the ban list from (or giving it to) - and can vouch for their common sense and honesty. Not that easy to do with an open ban-list on the 'Net! If the offense happened on the server itself, they would have a cast iron reason to ban someone - which they could do for months at a time. #C
walker 0 Posted February 26, 2007 Hi all I see little point in this thread. The solutions have already been discussed. 1) Play on servers with decent Admins with all the tools that allows. Bad admins are self correcting after a while few people play on their servers. 2) A simple range of anti TK scripts exist that can go in any mission if the designer wants to protect their mission from vandalism and gain them selves a good rep as a mission designer. They can be set up with forgive functions or set to trip levels or have scaled punishments. Punishments available in them range from wound matching and score reduction to auto kick and auto ban right up to sin bin zones, auto AI firing squads and keyboard lockup and even Multi-server ban lists for the persistent idiots. The solutions exist and consequently this TK problem in ArmA if not in the likes of CS no longer exists. Recommendation to the moddies Lock this thread it is now pointless and add a sticky thread with solution to the TK problem in either Scripting or User Missions Kind Regards Walker
shadow 6 Posted February 26, 2007 I totally agree. Ditto. Anyone up for the task of writing a simple TK-kick script for designers and an explanation on how to use/tweak it, feel free to post it here. Closing.
