GHOG 0 Posted February 20, 2007 Has anyone else encountered this problem too? Installed ARMA on Saturday and apart from getting the "invalid CD" message in MP all was OK. Everything OK on Sunday except that in the evening the DVD did not load first time I put it in the DVD RW. Monday the problem was worse ...it took about 10 tries to get the dvd to load and this morning it dosn't seem to load at all. I have the real DVD and have updated my DVDRW firmware to the latest version. I don't have any virtual drives etc. or pirated software. ARMA ran fine [until this problem] with no error messages or problems. Â Any ideas? GHOG
[aps]gnat 28 Posted February 20, 2007 Is it a DVD Region issue? ie, your normal DVD region isn't UK and the DVD software has been counting down the number of times you used it ?
GHOG 0 Posted February 20, 2007 I  will check this when I get home. I didn’t know that game DVD’s were region specific and that you could run them for a while before they stop working. Thanks m8  GHOG
monkeyb 0 Posted February 20, 2007 Its probably the copy protection software securom, it doesn't rcognise the dvds sometimes.
GHOG 0 Posted February 20, 2007 Thanks  monkeyb If it's Securom problem , does anyone know if there a fix for it? GHOG

GHOG 0 Posted February 20, 2007 I checked my DVD region and it's set to 1. What do other UK version users have their region set to? thanks GHOG edit: chazman24 It never loads the DVD.The DVD does not appear in the E: DVD drive and I don't get an error message. The dvd drive just keeps trying to load it. I have tried all my other game dvd's and all work OK.
hoz 0 Posted February 20, 2007 Theres an article in the Biki - DVD region that might help. I think 1 is for the US but not entire positive. Let us know how it works so the wiki article can be updated.
GHOG 0 Posted February 20, 2007 Thanks hoz I will try changing the region when  I get home this evening. GHOG
-CS-SOBR-1st-I-R- 0 Posted February 20, 2007 If it's Securom problem , does anyone know if there a fix for it? Do you have a Samsung DVD drive ? Many people told me that they had this problem too ... Try the DVD region first. If that does not work, then I would suggest to use an LG DVD drive. (worked in the other cases)
Dom-uk 0 Posted February 20, 2007 Have you tried, AnyDVD program from slysoft .It makes your dvd player into any region without losing your 4 changes on your dvd drive
sixb0nes 0 Posted February 20, 2007 Before I get spooked out (my 505 UK version on the way to Canada now), is anyone out there running their copy without problems in North America? I wouldn't expect region encoding to have any effect on games ...
Jack-UK 0 Posted February 20, 2007 I dont think there are many people in NA with the game yet.. its only recently had its europe release so hopefully some NA players will get it shipped to them in the coming days... There shouldnt be any issues in running it... if not, try that AnyDVD program or set your region to 2.
GHOG 0 Posted February 20, 2007 I have changed the region from 1 to 2 on my Sony DVDRW. The disc now loads about every 3 or 4 tries. Better than before but if this is down to Securom I am not impressed. I will keep testing. Thanks for all the help guys. GHOG
GHOG 0 Posted February 22, 2007 After a few more days testing the DVD still only gets loaded every 4 to 5 tries. Better than none at all but I guess its Securom keeping my PC safe. ARMA is still a great game. GHOG
chazman24 0 Posted February 22, 2007 If this problem doesnt occur with other dvd's it could be a securom problem. some dvd players dont support the method securom uses to check its a original cd, trying plugging in a mates dvd drive to your pc and see what it does if it still doesnt load ( i know you have the latest firmware ) walk to your closest GAME store stand out side and proceed to   constantly untill they give you a new pc .... .kju 3245 Posted February 22, 2007 check this thread for help: http://www.forum.german-gamers-club.eu/showthread.php?t=1266 you can contact securom to send you an modified arma.exe which is optimized to your specific DVD drive Quote[/b] ]Please consult the following steps to generate this analysis file.We developed this easy-to-use and effective error analysis tool to retrieve information necessary to locate the problem. The information contained in the analysis file is compressed and encrypted. 1. Make sure the original disc (play or launch disc) is in a local CD or DVD-ROM drive. 2. Please reboot your computer and do not start any additional applications. 3. "Right-click" (click the right button of your mouse) on the desktop shortcut or actual executable. 4. A dialog menu will appear. Choose "Launch Analysis" from the menu choices. 5. After selecting "Launch Analysis," a disclaimer window will appear. 6. To proceed, please click onto the "Yes" button. The program will now generate an "AnalysisLog.sr0" file within the root of your C:\ directory. Please "zip" (archive) this file (to avoid email corruption) and send it to our official email address support@securom.com together with a description of your problem (e.g. screenshots, further details). http://www.securom.com/How_to_generate_an_Analyis_file.zip
GHOG 0 Posted February 22, 2007 The problem came back. log sent to Securom GHOG
GHOG 0 Posted February 23, 2007 I have received a email back from Securom after they have looked at the problem. "Hello, Please be informed that SecuROM has no influence on the disc recognition under Windows. It appears that the issue is not SecuROM related. The problem may be caused by an anomaly of your CD/DVD drive or a defective disc. Best regards, SecuROM Support Team SecuROM on the web: http://www.securom.com or via e-mail: support@securom.com" As I posted previously there is no problem with any other DVD that I own and I have the latest firmware for the drive. The shop I got the game accepts no responsibility for any problems and securom accepts no responsibilty for their product being to blame . I'm just the guy that wants to play ARMA as its a great successor to OFP. I hope no one else has this problem with a Sony DVDRW DW G120A thanks for trying to help guys. Jack-UK 0 Posted February 23, 2007 Hmm well you should take that email to the shop you bought it from and demand a replacement or refund as it is probably caused by a defective disc as your DVD player functions with all other DVD discs. Try a different copy of ArmA, maybe that will solve your problem.
desertfox 2 Posted February 23, 2007 I recommend you try installing the game on a second PC to see if the error can be narrowed in to either the disk or your system. *EDIT* Please make sure to uninstall the game before you install it on a different machine. Otherwise you violate the license condition -Cough nudge-
GHOG 0 Posted February 28, 2007 Back again. Â I have tried a different ARMA Dvd [ new copy from Play.COM] and I still have the same problem. So It's not a defective DVD [First was from Game shop] I don't have imaging software so it can't be that. Securom say it's not down to them. Any other ideas? Thanks ghog
desertfox 2 Posted February 28, 2007 Try using a different drive. Borrow one from a mate or so.
Dutchie 0 Posted February 28, 2007 Anyone who is able to acces the DVD, check properties of the drive plse with DVD inserted. Does it say UDF filesystem ? Might be the problem. Had similar problem with BF2 DVD which could not be read by two DVD players.
GHOG 0 Posted March 1, 2007 Dutchie My DVD properties show CDFS Filesystem with DVD in drive. DesertFox Trying that next. Not easy as mates are in UK, not on the island. GHOG
