peterj 0 Posted February 10, 2007 If so, how do you lock up a target? edit: How do i use the GBU-12 with the Harrier, to be more specific.
peterj 0 Posted February 10, 2007 Ah you need to put out an SF Recon to laze it.
l mandrake 9 Posted February 10, 2007 Can't you put a laser pod (LANTIRN?) on the Harrier to guide the bomb with?
franze 196 Posted February 10, 2007 Given that the AV-8B already has LITENING, that'd be kind of moot. We just can't self designate our bombs (yet).
wex-q 0 Posted February 10, 2007 Could this be done by script, lets say that someone plants a tracker that gives the pos, and then you can find it from whereever in your bombplane?
franze 196 Posted February 11, 2007 The only way I'd know of doing it would be to have LITENING as a turret with a laser in it, controllable by a gunner.
Barely-injured 0 Posted February 11, 2007 Well that’s close enough to the real thing, the only problem is that there is no gunner so it has to be done by the pilot which will need a new control system especially if your going to make the LITENING view appear on one of the MFDs instead of fullscreen. Nemesis_wales 0 Posted February 11, 2007 1 harrier puts lazer on target, second drops bombs?
dentist guba 0 Posted February 12, 2007 are the GBU's TV aimed?
Big Dawg KS 6 Posted February 12, 2007 are the GBU's TV aimed? No... why would they be? GBU-12's are typically laser guided.
dentist guba 0 Posted February 13, 2007 I have seen plenty of modern aircraft that do use stuff like IR TV's for aiming, oh well, guess we'll just have to use them like the OFP bombs for now and just randomly drop them when it feels right if there are no laser designators. sanctuary 19 Posted February 13, 2007 For the player as a pilot, the "stuka" technique (climb high enough then dive on the target when approaching it) worked nicely in OFP to get a successfull LGB bombing run when there was no laser designation.
dentist guba 0 Posted February 13, 2007 Well, at least the new view distance will allow this "Stuka" technique to be used more successfully. the problems with this though: 1:will not look right(Obviously this isn't the biggest concern) 2:not the most accurate way
