realism mod , no tracers.

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, girls. I decided to start on a little mod, since i find the weapon sounds in arma to be lacking, so check out the custom sounds i added. Also I hated the tracers so I removed them from rifles. However they remain on mg's. So? What do you guys think?

Tracers are real.

They are used to improve aiming over some distance.

So no tracers, unreal mod. huh.gif

I think removing tracers is a bad idea. I think the tracers can be made more realistic, so the light glare on the ground follows the bullet etc. (correct me if this already happens, not seen it though), and also so that the tracers are slightly 'bulkier' looking, so they look like tracers as opposed to streaks of radioactive wee.

well Tracer rounds are not as common as you may think, small arms anyway. In 3 years i was only ever given tracers twice. and you only normally have 3-4 tracer rounds per mag not like in ofp and arma where everytime your fire you see a tracer. Though its really up to the player if there like tracers or not.

I think it can be all down the personal choice, as you said. 1 tracer at 20 rounds left, 1 at 10 rounds left and one at 5 rounds left, that sort of thing. Personally I'd like one in every 5 rounds in my rifle, so that I can get an idea of where my bullets are falling.

The thing that makes the atmosphere for me is the unmistakeable sight of the tracer flying through the air with the glow lighting up the ground below it - again it is down to quality, not quantity. Every 5 rounds of an MG can make this look dead cool.

The ArmA night is very good and dark. The video,

however, lacks a lot of the real atmosphere of

night ops. because the BIS tracers aren't nearly

luminous enough. The big night battles on the

Falklands for instance were like a fireworks display

with all the MG tracers changing sides.

Are tracer rounds actually fired much from rifles

nowadays? They certainly weren't in my day and

we used to get by just fine with counting our rounds

and changing out when empty (or more often when

we lost count  wink_o.gif  ); "MAGAZINE!"

Yes there are Tracer rounds for 5.56mm and i have been issued them before to be used in the SA80 rifle, but as i said you really only had 3-4 tracers per mag normally 1 tracer per every 5 rounds.
