1.03 Will it fix the SERIOUS peformance drop ?

Recommended Posts

With version 1.01 downloaded from meta my arma mark was

link here http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....4;st=30

7366

on this system

System Specs:

E6600 2.4G running at 3.2G

Asus P5W DH mobo

2G DDR2 800Mhz Ram

8800GTX 768Mb

X-FI sound card

Now with version 1.02 and my CPU overclocked HIGHER to 3.45 it is

4398

That is one hell of a drop in performance , will this be addressed in patch 1.03 ? It appears that they screwed up the performance on high end systems but yet improved it for lower end users :-(

maybe your OC isn't that stable?

with the ram pushed that hard u might find that u have corruption, and therefore instead of reading/writing to ram once it has to do it several times.

if u have altered to patch 1.02 and altererd your CPU/Ram speed then that is hardly a scientifc approach, alter 1 thing at a time and then complain that 1.02 is worse on high end systems.

if u change eveything at once how can u know what is the cause in the drop in performance?

with a similar system except Mobo, i found that 1.02 improved performance, so it sounds like memmory to me, u could try using a bit more memmory voltage.

Be mindful of the CPU temperature aswell, alot of the new CPU's auto underclock themselves if they get too hot, thereby reducing performance greatly without you even noticing.

Probably should have mentioned in first post that Iam not an overclocking noobie.

Thermal throttling / temp control is disabled on both ram and cpu

As far as stability , my machine can run orthos ( saturating both cores & stressing the hell outa the ram) for 8 hours without error ( will run longer test when I have time ) , the max temp hit was about 55 ( using a tuniq tower cooler - fan speed is only 40% to keep noise down - so plenty more cooling capacity is available )

My mobo has ocing profiles so I just recalled the settings used on the earlier test on version of arma 1.01 , with arma mark.

Here are the results:

1.01 Arma @ 3.2G 7366

1.02 Arma @ 3.2G 3849

1.02 Arma @ 3.42G 4398

In my opinion that looks like a hell of a drop in performance

What say you guys ?

arma 1.02 as without doubt sucked the ass out of any medium to high pc. they did say it would make the game more playable on lower end pcs with 1.02. unfortunately whatever they did made medium to high end pc owners suffer the price sad_o.gif.

arma mark result using patch 1.01 = 1200

arma mark result using patch 1.02 = 834

pc specs below

@Shadowbze

There must be something wrong with your pc. I got 5319 on Arma 1.02

System Specs:

Pentium D 930 3.0Ghz running at 3.0Ghz

Intel D975XBX

4G DDR2 667Mhz Ram

7950GX2 1024Mb (notice im running on VISTA X64RC2 without SLI support) means only 512Mb Vram is used

X-FI sound card

I think i know what it is.  They have two versions of arma mark.  The first version gave people high scores cause the camera views were off, they were not even on the vehicles.  After the fixed version the camera views were actually on the vehciles which decreased the score alot.  I was getting well over 7000 untill they fixed arma mark.  Now the 1.2 arma mark is more acurate.  You should try new arma mark on each version of arma and then post results.

1.02 Arma @ 3.2G 3849

1.02 Arma @ 3.42G 4398

r u sure that u allways used the same version of arma mark? there were like 3 versions of it.
