Goldenwings2002 0 Posted December 24, 2006 Here is a screenshot of what I am seeing in the game when I fire at close range to someone. http://home.comcast.net/~thunderdesigns/Gallery/bulletfire1.jpg Clearly I am aiming at the face and it hits him in the arm. That's some serious aiming problem... If need be I can post a picture of my CD, manual, and box it came in.
Goldenwings2002 0 Posted December 24, 2006 In order to get a headshot on anyone this is where I have to aim. What's going on? Why are some people not having any problems and some are? Seriously, please look into this. http://home.comcast.net/~thunderdesigns/Gallery/bulletfire2.jpg
libertyordeath776 0 Posted December 24, 2006 Well i sent mail again to Matobli with my purchase info, unique serial etc. Ill let ya know what happens, but it will be a couple days probably.
franze 196 Posted December 24, 2006 Goldenwings2002 please don't post images over 100KB. For your problem, try shooting an object (wall, etc) from a range greater than 100m. If you have a shotgun pattern, then there's an issue. If not, you're just seeing the strange aiming properties of the engine.
libertyordeath776 0 Posted December 25, 2006 Yes i have an issue with my bought version. It has a shotgun pattern. I downloaded the demo, it shoots great.

Seriously, please look into this.http://home.comcast.net/~thunderdesigns/Gallery/bulletfire2.jpg As with OFP, in ArmA too, bullets do not emerge from the center of the screen or from the crosshair, but actually from your weapon barrel. This is only noticeable in close ranges, and if you switch to ironsight/optics view, you can clearly see where are you actually aiming, and that's the only way to be sure your bullets hit where you aim, especially in closer ranges. At ranges above 20-30 meters, you can rely on crosshairs more.
libertyordeath776 0 Posted December 26, 2006 Exactly what im talking about, my bullets come out of the barrel up, down, left right. In the demo they fly straight and true.

Grodin 0 Posted December 27, 2006 If the bullets fly like in some arcade games (BF, CS, etc?) all around the place its defenetly the "fade" system, they used it in OFP and use it in ARMA also. Only thing im aware of that causes fade in arma is that game was installed with a serial key that is banned, in other words taken from internet. These banned cd keys are updated with every patch, meaning that it doesnt matter if you are online or not, fade system can still figure out that your CD key is public as the patcher updated the list, even if the game worked perfectly before 01 or 02 patch. Bullets from M16/Ak74 for example should hit pretty much exactly where you aim up to ~100 meters, if you cant hit a soldier at that distance even you know you are aiming right, you propably have something activating the fade. Goldenwings2002, the image you linked seems fine to me, thats how it should work. Theres nothing strange there as far as i can see. The barrel points at hes hands, or hes head in the other picture, and it hits there. Remember the "reticule" that you see there has nothing to do with where bullets will land as its not supposed to be used for any aiming anyway. Hard to tell if theres anything wrong with fade tho as you need to shoot further away with the real sights if you want to hit something. This is supposed to be realistic, not another arcade action fps where the bullets hit instantly to the middle of the screen, you need to use the iron sights to see if its working as its supposed to
Rommel42 0 Posted January 1, 2007 So, from what I gather, it's another example of copy protection gone wrong. Great, I look forward to playing an authentic simulation of starwars stormtrooper combat. That is if any U.S. publishers pick up the game... or change the copy protection to something less ridiculous. At least just prompt an error that tells you that you are using an illegal copy, rather than this "who designed my rifle, a caveman?" kind of crap.
Maddmatt 1 Posted January 1, 2007 jack_oneill +1 WL and PR 48hrs for now, because I'm feeling lenient... The rules are VERY clear about illegal copies. But it was only to check if the copy protection is causing the problem . I think that was just ridiculous.

libertyordeath776 0 Posted January 1, 2007 Well i got an email back, they said to take it up with the publisher.
Kirby 2 Posted January 1, 2007 Well i just got email back from support. They tell me they just deal with purchase, download , and activation. They say to get help here . Im starting to lean toward ive been hacked and cd key stolen and used by someone else er something. I was playin last night and someone was controling my guy in game. Also i was in a game and my name changed on screen. Old OFP:Elite problem! (OFP for Xbox) You go online and every now and again anouther player (In the same game) is controling half controling you! I don;t think it has anyhting to do with CD keys, as Xbox games don't need them.

Seriously, please look into this.http://home.comcast.net/~thunderdesigns/Gallery/bulletfire2.jpg The reason that happens is because your weapon is zeroed for a far greater distance than that. Your sights and the bullet trajectory form two lines, which means the line where the line of site and the bullet trajectory meets is where the bullet hits. For example: I know my high level of artistic detail might make that hard to understand, but you get the idea :P
Kirby 2 Posted January 1, 2007 Argh, you're stalking me Chris! Â Anyway. Seeing as even my new PC can't squeeze a decent frame rate out of ArmA. I can't help mutch...
Medusa 0 Posted January 2, 2007 Christ... Don 't dismiss his complaint because he posted one bad example screenshot. He said the rifle impact looks like a shotgun pattern. And he said that he tried the demo and the aiming in the demo is fine. Only the retail game is affected. So he knows what he's doing. He has a real problem. He knows it. I know it. Let's all know it together. Now. How do we fix it?
dr_chris 10 Posted January 2, 2007 If you'll notice I quoted the answer I was giving, I did not dismiss the question because quite frankly I don't know the answer to anything other than the quote I gave.
Universel 0 Posted January 2, 2007 I think that everyone experiencing this ammo dispersion "bug" sould post here their Player ID. Player ID is not your cd key, you can find it under your profile (start Arma and edit your profile, ID is a 6-8 digit number) I am 99% sure that only bad/banned IDs trigger that "bug". libertyordeath776 0 Posted January 3, 2007 Well heres my id# Â 22957317. Hope this helps me find out. Is there some list i can see to check my id if bad or banned?

Im hesitant to post such things, no offence to you but you're not staff at BIS nor Morphicon (who incedently have the WORST support I've ever heard of, my advice is dont bother buying anything from them because they wont reply to email because its free and charge out the nose for telephone support), thus im not going to post info, especially when BIS havent even bothered to make a reply about this problem. I've learned a lesson here though, dont buy from BIS or Morphicon as they release buggy games and dont support you, they only want your money, I'm going to sell my copy and give up on this game if its not fixed in the next patch to be honest, why should I have my time wasted by companies that simply dont care about their customers?
