Guest Posted January 30, 2002 LOL to all you stupid ppl who thought it was an addon for the USMC LOL, LOL, LOL and i might rub it in some more, LOL. BonusWeb: Could you tell us something about Independence Lost game? Marek Spanel: I'm sorry, but we don't want to reveal anything more than you can find on the homepage launched yesterday. BonusWeb: Several gaming sites allege that it is Operation Flashpoint datadisk, some say it is your ex-employee private project. Could you say us the truth? Marek Spanel: It is an official project of Bohemia Interactive Studio, not one of our employees'. I really don't want to reveal more, but it is not the datadisk we have already announced. BonusWeb: Is it a new datadisk or a new standalone project? Marek Spanel: I won't tell you whether it is a datadisk or a standalone project. We will inform you later this year; for now, all public information can be found on the homepage. Based on the information directly from the source, we can only speculate whether it is a standalone project or the second, not-yet-announced datadisk for Operation Flashpoint. Either way, Independence Lost should be visually more attractive then original Operation Flashpoint and should well demonstrate (not only visual) qualities of its engine. Guest Posted January 30, 2002 what are your thoughts on the matter PLacebo, what do u think it will be?
suchey 0 Posted January 30, 2002 I think its an expansion pack that will bring the OFP Game world up to present times equipment and mission wise. The news paper on the site references present day dates and the vehicles, screenshots, and pictures look to be present day oriented. The development time doesnt seem to be long enough for a whole new game (I could be wrong but release in 2002 seems a bit optimistic if it was a new product)...I think alot of it will be stuff that is in VBS as we have already seen that the Australian military is represented in VBS (and the IL site seems to make quite a bit of reference to Australia in the mock newspaper). Carriers, hueys, and jump jets are also in VBS and are pictured on the IL site. Looks like it may also have some sort of loose tie in to the recent events in the middle east. Only time will tell, but the timing is just about right for a nice big add on to keep the adrenaline pumping in the OFP community.

Unl33t 0 Posted January 31, 2002 I was disapointed reading that interview, I think it would be the worst one i have ever read, Only because... There may as well have been No interview in my opinion, most of the questions were not answered, So i think the only question that was answered , Was the one about it being a BIS project and not a ex-employee one... I wish he had answered all the other questions to give us some more info, I feel B.I.S keep alot of stuff under wraps for too long.. If you don't like my opinion , dont read it.. opps. beno_83au 1369 Posted January 31, 2002 This expansion might be about Australia's peace keeping efforts in East Timor. Australia has been peace keeping there for a while there and it mentions some stuff about the area on the site.
t_style 0 Posted January 31, 2002 There's a couple of new screenshots (?) on the IL.com page. I think that is a SAW there on the left, but I don't know what the vehicle in the lower left corner is...
