No choice of Weapons in ArmA Campaign

Recommended Posts

You got the whole russian infanterie loadout but only

one weapon from the us.

For example: M4 Acog, Mags and M136 Launcher ...

Why are there no options for the us weapons?

i just noticed that too. sad_o.gif

not only that, but the loadout options are also not logical;

i'm currently trying to accomplish the 2nd Corazol sidemission. i'm alone and have to blow up four armored vehicles at camp 1 and then proceed to optional objective camp 2 to steal documents.

now, not only do i get mostly Russian weapons except for the basic M-4 Aimpoint and the M-136, i'm not even given sufficient satchel charges or a suppressed gun. not even a sidearm.

camp 1 is pretty well guarded. there's no way i can blow up 3-4 tanks with the M-136 without getting killed by the guards. i can sneak in and out with no problem but since i don't have more than 2 satchels at my disposal, i still have to use the M-136 for the rest of the vehicles. pretty tricky.

long story short: the loadout options are not logical and realistic.

I'm stucking atm in the same sidemission and got the same

problems. You can edit the "description.ext" of this mission

and give you the loadout you needed!

There are numerous little camps in that mission with weaponcrates and ammocrates. I have found 4 little camps, the helo-place and the maincamp where you´re assault on the tasnks should take place. I always started with the little camp straight ahead, moved on the mapmark with "weapons" on it and engaged 2 smaller camps, the helo-camp and the little one behind it. You get all the weapons you want there. Satchels, AT, whatnot.

When all is clear I move back to the primary target, shoot the lone soldier on guard, satchel the shilka, move up on the hill, kill all infantry when they don´t see each other and blow up the tanks finally with AT.

If reinforcements come with trucks, take them out with your gun.

It´s not hard to do it this way, no need to change the mission....

I agree. Did it same way. Killed all one by one.

There really is an solution for every mission there is.

If there seems no *obvious* solution wrt. to your beloved playing style;..

think.

Make it happen another way. smile_o.gif

--

Example: There is an mission you got to destroy armored vehicles

inside an base. I am not certain, what triggers the alarm

(seems an *area* trigger, which is poor, because no matter how

stealthy you enter the base, it goes off)

3 Satchels only, no AT, no crates.

As soon as the alarm is triggered, the tanks are manned.

And once they are, at least one of them will not move.

Problem: Unlike in OFP, I was *not* able to sneak up on that tank,

no matter what! (AI tank crew detection raised in an 'unfair' way;

they always knew, where I would come from! )

-

The only solution working was: Disregard stealth..from outside

the base in an position closest to the 2 tanks, I ran up

behind them..tossed 2 Satchels with 30secs and ran the hell

out same way. All while the alarm was whailing.

Stealth mission? I tried to enter the base from every direction,

but as soon as inside...alarm..no kills yet!

-

Of course, I first tried the stealthy approach, even managed to kill everyone

(1 BMP at least moving around, so I could place a satchel in its path)

including 1 tank, which I got with an 'running-drop satchel-set 30-leap behind corner' approach;..

but catched at least 3 bullets while doing so.

Oh yeah, no First Aid tent around..

The last tank (which would have been mission complete)

*always* got me, no matter how stealthy or fast or every which direction I approached him.

This one was one spoiled experience, I can tell you. You will see yourself.

-

Never had any problems to approach tanks in OFP;..even if they *were* alarmed,

but sooner or later dropped guard again, to allow for your stealthy closing.

-

This was not the only situation wrt to tanks. Basically, in

ArmA it is no longer possible to sneak up on an tank;..they

either got 360 vision or complete awareness of your current position all time (knowsabout)

Personally, I dont like that. No fun really.

(Try to approach 3 tanks in an complete open area and plain daylight from any direction,

like in the 'Blow up the bridge' mission. No first Aid tent either but *at least* M136s.

With satchels only;..no f***ing way to get closer than 200m!

In OFP, it was possible(though hard) to get 3 kills (satchels) and even get away with it.

In that mission I crawled into the camp from the north, stopping whenever soldiers were coming my way. Passing the truck's headlights was tricky. Placed a satchel behind the first tank, crawled on to the tank in the back of the compound. Blew the first satchel and immediately got in as gunner, shot the BMP to pieces, and then shot anything that moved. As they didn't have any AT weapons, I was at no risk but from the Mi-17 flying around. But that one never opened fire.

After cleaning out the base, I drove my tank towards my extraction point. I got out and instantly got fired upon. Dove behind the tank, place my remaining two satchels, ran away (no more shots, lucky me) and blew up the tank. Mission completed.  smile_o.gif

I hate that mission, so much... It is extremely unrealistic. As tho you would ever do such a thing alone! In real life you would send in a Forward Observer, who in turn would call in a jet to simply drop a bomb on these units.

funny, i tried to get in the Shilka and BMP closest to the starting position, but both were locked, so i assumed all vehicles in that camp are locked.

This mission it's difficult but after I mounted satchel on left tank I ran to trucks to get some more smile_o.gif

i finally beat that mission.

i took over the two nearest weapons caches and equipped a suppressed AKS-74U with a couple of magazines, 3 satchel charges, an RPG-7 and at least one RPG.

i approached the tank camp over the hill and took out the lone guard nearest to my own starting position. then i crawled to the nearest Shilka and the two BMPs and placed one satchel charge next to each vehicle. evading the 2 man patrol, i crawled back up the hill i came from, shot the 2nd Shilka with my RPG launcher and blew the others with the charges.

Note: i was unable to get in the Shilka and the two BMPs. either they are indeed locked or i approached from the wrong side or somehow missed the "Enter" action icon...

as i tried then to crawl into the second camp, i was spotted by one of the guards. i have no idea why he saw me over the distance. i was lying in the grass, the stationary MG gunners did not notice me. maybe the Alligator flying overhead spotted me? as i retreated back to the nearest weapons cache, i encountered new enemies! apparently, they followed me after i blew their tanks. they opened fire and i ran to the boat.

so, i was unable to steal the documents, but at least i accomplished the primary objective.

i must say, it was a rather fun mission after all. i love the way ArmA forces you to think about how to solve the mission.

sending a lone conventional soldier in enemy territory without the right weapons is still ridiculous - even Special Forces would go in teams - but as long as it's fun to play...  whistle.gif

yeah, like i said, that was the first thing i tried. but i couldn't get in any of the vehicles. if there are vehicles one can commandeer, i'd like to know which one exactly.

Oh bugger, I though you were talking about another mission, somewhere near the end of the campaign. Another base up north. banghead.gif

I never managed to complete *this* mission. I stopped after five tries.

The vehicles in the camp are locked, You can´t use any of them.

I like it when mission editors actually do that as noone would leave his tank unlocked in a camp overnight. thumbs-up.gif

Although the armoured vehicles are locked, the trucks are not. I used a truck to run over the dozen or so soldiers guarding the camp (they didn't think to shoot at me), and then use the M136 to destroy the two trucks as they came toward the camp. I then used my remaining M136 and a satchel to destroy the 2 BMPs, and threw grenades at the Shilkas (they die after 3-4 hand grenades each).

Incredibly unrealistic and not a lot of fun. I have to say I'm enjoying the PMC campaign a lot more than BIS' one.

Yet in the next mission, every man and his dog has an M136 and they don't think twice about using them for anti-personel work

yeah, but Rummy wouldn't give you a complete arsenal of Russian weapons to chose from, either. wink_o.gif

seriously, this looks a lot like a mistake on the designer's part.

Honestly I planted a satchel by the one Shilka, then crawled up on the hill. Just as I fired my first M136, I set off the bomb, reloaded, shot, ect until I got them all then BOOKed it. I had to kinda use the save load cheat a bunch. I timed the satchel to take out a patrol.

I then ran over and got the documents. Not a very satisfying mission, completely unbelievable.

Even though this thread went off topic, why is it that we don't have access to US weapons for the missions?

http://img212.imageshack.us/img212/8786/gearpb6.jpg

i'd say it's a bug of sorts. simply another aspect of the game that hasn't been given enough attention, yet.

i kinda find it funny that things such as this one haven't been fixed yet but they already add new content. how about fixing what's already in the game first? whistle.gif
