BIS, No red square in the laser target designator

Recommended Posts

I don't have it and several other don't either. Otherwise, it seems to work properly. This was true for me in version 1.30 and now also in version 1.40.

All versions installed clean - not even a warning message. Of course, I upgraded to 1.30 from 1.20 and not from a 1.2x beta version.

I take it this is most likely some sort of graphics interface error?

My specs:

IBM T20 Thinkpad with an on-board S3 Savage Mark IV 8MB chip.

Yes, I know this chip supposedly doesn't meet specifications but I've been playing OFP on this notebook since the demo came out and I've had no CTDs, lagging, warped graphics or any other major abnormalities.

Not wanting to insult you when you have offered so much but how close are you pointing the designator?

The dot is tiny on my machine and I only see it if I paint the ground about ten feet in front of me. Could it be that you've just been aiming too far away?

I lased the ground in front of me and I lased a house 73 meters away. No red dot or square but I sured did die quick once those LGBs came in!

Yeah I had that a lot with 1.30. They couldn't hit a target to save their lives but they found me with amazing regularity. Thankfully they have improved somewhat.

No this was with 1.40 and they hit the target accurately. I placed myself 73 meters away just to prove that I wasn't too far away to lase the target.

I can see the red dot, you just have to be pretty close and sometimes at different angles you can't see it.

the hand held ones work for me but not in the chopper. This is one of the very few bugs I see that are left, and I dont use unoffical addons so I know its not that.

Theres dot but its hardly visible at most times.

I were once wondering whats that small dot when I had laser designator pointing towards ground.

Seems like that red marker also gets smaller when distance increases (and that reticule isn't helping the matter with seeing it)

What missions to you use the LD on? And do the target has to be within a certain range or what?

Search The FAQ for "ltd use". There's a sample mission you can download to play with the LTD.

You do not have it when you have riffle tracers turned off. In reallity you would not see laser targeting dot, as out-of-visible range light laser is used.
