Thanks for the mission!

However, I dropped this on our dedicated server and 4 people got CTD's several times in a row.

Is there an updated version of this, or is there a bad setting in my config?

Here is our dedicated server config.

Not getting off topic here .. Your missions are great and they are very well done/completed, so I know it has to be something on our end.

-No other missions are doing this and it happens right after the briefing.

- We (Hit Squad) are all running the Morphicon downloaded German version 1.01.5094 with the 6Sense German to English Conversion v.06. (6thSense_ArmA_Language_Patcher_v0.6.exe)

[NOT THE RETAIL PATCH AS THIS MESSES IT ALL UP]

- The Hit Squad Dedicated server is 100% German version 1.01.5094 excluding missions. - No Addons Installed

if i knew what the error message was it would help a lot..there's a small sound clip in the intro but that shouldn't cause a crash.

ok to narrow this down a bit, does my other map (operation nova) work ok on your server ?

Yes Nova works fine.

Although I can hear the Audio tracks in that one ...

is there supposed to be audio tracks in Docks? If so I don't hear them.

It may be the sound .. loud water sound in the beginning that crashes people. Perhaps a sound bug. *shrug*

Can that sound clip be removed or changed?

EDIT:

Here is the Error in it's glory.

that error isnt what i was expecting at all.i have no idea what the problem can be now.

5 soldiers are set to this moveincargo boat1....but how could that cause a crash.i've made hundreds of mp maps for ofp with that string.

i've been makin thise maps with my brothers german version of the game so i cant test them online as he has no internet.i'll have to look into it when i get my english copy.

there's also a chopper script but that used to work in ofp mp so i don't know what the problem is. crazy_o.gif

EDIT- someone else has tried it on a dedicated server and it seems to be ok,read this thread

still not happy though,i will look into this further.

I dunno .. but I did test it over and over ...

What version is your brothers game? Perhaps there is a diff?

We unfortunately did have to remove it from the server until we figure out why it crashes the clients, but we are keeping Nova as it plays bug free and is a great mission.

Thanks!

ok to see if it's the chopper evacuation script i'll post a beta version v.shortly for u to try in multiplayer.without the chopper script....see if we can get to the bottom of this error.

thanks for testing it.

edit- try this m8 link removed no chopper script in this.

b.t.w u might not notice the music in the intro cos it's fairly low volume, but if u turn it up u will hear it wink_o.gif

no prob , i want this to work online as much as you do  smile_o.gif i'm kinda hoping it's not the chopper script that's bugged in mulitplayer, cos it's well cool in coop.

if it's the soundclip or the boat thing thats the problem i can live without them....but please god not the chopper evac lol.

Still Crashing. So the script removed is not the issue.

I am guessing on the sound bug issue .. not a script.

I don't crash everytime, but I do see others dropping like flies.

Multiple users "Losing Connection" is a dead giveaway as a possible CTD issue.

The reason your mission is causing ppl to CTD is because the mission starts near the water. I know it sounds like nothing but it really makes a difference. Try changing your mission so it starts about 200m away from the water, you shouldn't see ppl getting CTDs after that.

I know this because I had the same problem with a co-op I made and I played it online and ppl were having CTDs like crazy but when I moved the start of the mission inland away from the water the crashes were gone.

Still crashing.

5 people last time that I know of had hard CTD's.

Oh well .. perhaps move the mission or remove that boat in the water intro deal... *shrug*

No worries Lone... I will invest some time in this and try to clear it for you. If we got the problem I will add the info to the thread about considerations when making missions etc.

I hope I can make it tonight or tomorrow.

cheers m8,i'll bet my life it's the scripts though.even though i took them out, something still remains in the map that i cant see, causing problems.

i'll do my next mission from scratch, without these scripts, until we know what the problem is with this map.

If you removed the scripts there is no way they can affect the game. Only scripts that affect the game when left in:

init.sqs

onPlayerRespawn*****.sqs

and a few others afaik.

If you removed certain scripts and removed references to them then that can't be it m8, It might be one of the units you've used etc... I will really try to figure it asap, the first step ill probably do is divide the mission in 4 versions, in each version more units/vehicles/objects are removed from the mission, the last version only has the friendly units in, then i'll test one by one which version works well, then you will find where you need to put your magnifying glass and take a look.

PS, you can test it on a deddy server yourself by starting up the game twice, if you have a dual core this is gonna be great, if you dont then it will lag but at least you can see how it goes...

What you need to do is copy your arma folder to lets say: arma-server

then start the arma.exe in that server with: -server

and then you can join it and check it out for yourself aswell.

it only seems to kick the other players though, the first main player that joined doesnt get kicked ,so i'm stuck for testing it to be honest.

that trial and error idea sounds like a good idea to find out where the problem is.

wish i had my uk copy to test online ;( i have to wait till january.

Why do you have to wait for January, Christmas is in December right? smile_o.gif sorry for the offtopic.

I'll have a quick looky into a text editor and your mission to see if I find something tounge2.gif
