stisoas 0 Posted November 29, 2006 Hello. i'm wondering if my sound cards drivers works fine . In fact, i found EAX stuff more than useless. with it enabled, i can heard a chopper at 10Km , sometime , tank shell loading too , etc ... it looks like same old bug than OFP's one . with hardware support enabled only , it seem fine ! and for well appreciate my teammate voice, i shutdown radio volume. Does EAX make thing wonderfull for you ?
rekrul 7 Posted November 29, 2006 I have a Turtle Beach Riviera card on w2k and the sound is totally messed up there. Often I experience that most of the sound is gone after 5-10 mins of gameplay. I can also hear an engine on from 1.5km away as it was 50m away (in the start before the sound is gone). It's really annoying as it kills the atmosphere. If I'm in the game and go to options and disable Hardware Acceleration on the sound, I immediatly CTD. If I test the soundcard in dxdiag and any other game, it's peachy. I don't know what they require of their soundcards, it must be doing some operations that my card doesn't support or it is directly accessing the soundcard which I highly doubt. Or D3DSound blows ass as I suspect.
Skunk Monkey 0 Posted November 29, 2006 I've heard about the hardware acceleration letting you hear choppers in the far corner of the map. The sounds are a little buggy generally, especially in multiplayer. I have faith that BIS will sort it

ThePredator 0 Posted November 29, 2006 And I thought with my X-Fi Elite Pro I will have some decent sound envirionment...Pah! I hear the flies buzzing around the corpses I left miles behind. The first shot sounds wrong, like underwater, if you create a editor mission with just yourself. If you are the first one creating a sound, the shot is corrupted. december 0 Posted November 29, 2006 The sound is basically screwed up. Armored units cause a lot of breakups and as Skunk says, hardware acceleration causes crazy sound issues.
450R 1 Posted November 29, 2006 I have faith that BIS will sort it No offense to you but I'm getting tired of hearing that. This bug never should've made it to Armed Assault, it should've been fixed years ago in OFP. End of story.
Locke@Germany 0 Posted November 29, 2006 ArmA release is more and more becomming a big disapointment. Makes me sad and angry to read about bugs in ArmA that i know from OFP for years.
GabKa73 0 Posted November 29, 2006 Yes, sound is awfully buggy in ArmA. I'm using an Creatice Audigy 2 and I have the same issues as above. I read somewhere it has to do with OpenAL but installing the latest OpenALwEAX drivers didn't change anything. Some people with onboard AC97 sound seem to have no sound issues - ArmA doesn't like expensive audio hardware.
