Guest RKSL-Rock Posted November 24, 2006 You might want to edit that pic - 142kb is against the rules! We've got one in the works but its intended for ArmA but an OFP release might make it before the 505 ArmA release.
Big Dawg KS 6 Posted November 24, 2006 I seriously doubt it man, since it was never in service very long and its not very common. Most mods aim to make only the most common vehicles as that's what you're likely to see on the battlefield. You're chances of seeing a Hind-A and -B on the battlefield are practicallyl zero. But if you want a good hind addon, RHS is hard to beat. RHS Hinds thread. Edit: Ok, maybe I was wrong. Â RockofSL, you suppose it will see much use in ArmA? According to some sites its still in use in Sudan, but you are right its not very common most having been upgraded to -D standard. I know of one examble but its currently in crates in the IWM warehouse in the docklands not far form where i live. As for how much use it will get in ArmA... It features in my plans but i guess it depends on the players own personal choice doesnt it.

Guest RKSL-Rock Posted November 24, 2006 @RockofSLThanks I have not look how much kb the pic had, i have edited my post and isnt there any cance to release it for ofp!! Quite honestly its only the textures that are the problem. They take me the longest to do. An OFP release will depend on the amount of time i have to make them or if i can get one of they guys to help me out
finarvas 1 Posted November 24, 2006 Nice! Would be cool for a Red Dawn mod

Guest RKSL-Rock Posted November 24, 2006 what is the problem with the textures? The camo cheme or the interrior? I Can give you some pictures ot of an anime calld Black Lagoon There is the chopper used and some times it is possible to view in the interrior!! Its making them :P It takes alot of time to unwrap and mapp the model and i dont have alot of free time atm - I'm trying to finish the textures for the RKSL Harrier pack and Rapiers. sakura 0 Posted November 24, 2006 you are right! Better to finish the Harrier and Rapier First! Maybe Later For The Hind
xnodunitx 0 Posted November 24, 2006 Regardless of being in service or not, thats not really a reason at all as to why it should nto be ingame,I mean heck..what would be the fun if we didn't add some "reality fiction"? Mapping isn't too difficult,I'd do it for ya. Something like that would probably be simple compared to the longbow I will have to map later..Of course the trick is getting it all on one texture. -ZG-BUZZARD 0 Posted November 25, 2006 Great news that somebody decided that the Hind-A was worth doing!!! Somehow I think in terms of cockpit the "A" looks way cooler than the later "D" etc... Can't wait to get my hands on this one, still for OFP!!

wolfbite 8 Posted November 25, 2006 Make sure you get the cockpit setup correct.. its a 3 man cockpit with gunner and co/gunner side by side and a comms engineer facing sideways at back i believe
Guest RKSL-Rock Posted November 25, 2006 Make sure you get the cockpit setup correct.. its a 3 man cockpit with gunner and co/gunner side by side and a comms engineer facing sideways at back i believe Its strange that you say that. In all the stuff ive read it says 3 man for the -A. But various books say 2 for the -B but all the cockpit photos ive found only provide seating for 2! MAA3057 0 Posted November 25, 2006 Never knew this helo exsisted. The addon model looks really nice though. Did the Russian Army reject it? Was it like Americas RAH-66 Commanche project? A hopeful, but dumped?

A hopeful, but dumped? It was in service for a while I believe. But it got replaced soon by the newer Hind models. It remained/remains in service in some countries though. MAA3057 0 Posted November 25, 2006 This chopper got its fame in movie named "Red Dawn" in which USA soil is crowded with commies and this baby appears on the sky Thanks for the replies on this guys, I still need to check Red Dawn out (yeah, I should have years ago... ) It would be nice to see this addon in ArmA if it isn't able to make it to OFP. wolfbite 8 Posted November 25, 2006 The reds phased it out quickly because the hind-d's had better cockpit layouts/weapons and engine filters. i cant find any pics of the cockpit layout... but i do dnow its defo 3 seat on th a model. Not tryin to be a backseat modder or anything jus tell me if u think im takin the piss It's alright mate. I don’t think you are taking the piss. I'm just at a loss to where a 3rd crew member would sit given the pics and info I currently have. The main reason it was phased was survivability. But there was a variety of reasons for its redesign: Poor visibility, little or no armour for the crew, limited angle of arc for the nose machine gun. There is a long list. The -D model was a big improvement in survivability and firepower. As for the cockpit layout: These are from a production model apparently flown in Afghanistan during the Soviet Occupation. The gunner’s seat is mounted on the aircraft centreline. The pilot's is slightly offset to the left. Give the dimensions of the airframe and the positions of the seats shown above... I’m open to offers of the location of the 3rd crew member. The only place i can think of is the cargo space behind the pilot.
franze 196 Posted November 25, 2006 Isn't it possible the third seat (if any) would have been reserved for the infantry squad commander?
Guest RKSL-Rock Posted November 26, 2006 Isn't it possible the third seat (if any) would have been reserved for the infantry squad commander? No its not "that" kind of seat. Most sources clearly state a crew of 3 for the Hind A: Pilot, Gunner and Engineer/Navigator Nearly all of the sources including 4 books ive found state that 3 crew were carried + 8 troops. However none of the sources describe the location of the 3rd crew member. I've been told by a former member of the Soviet and now Ukrainian Airforce that he believes this Engineer didn’t have a proper seat and was carried in the cargo space, which contradicts many of the internet sources. This 3rd crewman's role was to repair the aircrafts many 'problems' in the field. But my source also freely admits to never having actually seen a Hind-A in service, only the -D. So if anyone knows more than us then I'm sticking with the 2 crew layout as seen on the first page.
