Resistance side In ArmA

Recommended Posts

From a multiplayer point of view I would have hoped for more distinctive resistance side, oh well, nothing that mods cant fix.

Aussies? what they goin to do, beat them to death with cans of castlemain (sorry didn't mean to offend anyone, EMPTY cans)

Nice one breathern. You from the US? Typical US Answer, obviously you missed the minor fact that our ARMY IS BETTER THAN THE US PIECE OF CRAP.

Just when I was gonna come and side with you, and defend Australia's Military, you go and bash the US army, so never mind, bash away! yay.gif

From a political world-perspective it actually makes more sense that:

OPFOR: North Sarahini

BLUEFOR: South Sarahini

INDEPENDANT: US of A.

But I digress.

And regarding the Australian vs US militaries. Yes, the Aus. military gets most of their complex equipment from the US, but that's not the point being made. A military isn't "good" or "not good" based on their equipment but rather the use of it, doctrine, and the quality of the soldiers.

I believe the Aus. military is undoubtedly better in the sense of effectiveness-per-soldier compared with the US. I think this is simply due to the size differences between the forces. If the Aus military was the same size as the US's, then it would suffer a lot of the same problems that hamper the quality of the US's military. As it stands, the Aus. military is a lot smaller, tighter, and overall less powerful (so they have more incentive to be effecient).

But I digress.

I was about to mention but didn't want to keep straying offtopic about something similar.

Edit: But it is really hard to compare soldiers, especially if they haven't gone to combat against one another in closely analyzed battles. It all narrows down to the individuals morals, discipline and wits. Judging as a whole would be a little tough. It is kind of like comparing the French, American, British and German MBTs. They are all the best in the world but we can't find out which one is better just by assuming.

I think that makes a lot more sense. Since the US Army are there as a training and Support element. Its not like the US of A actually own SS as a colony. Maybe BIS should think about this...then again they may just say sod off! tounge2.gif

This is great, when I first saw this, I thought the same thing for the same reasons.

Or multiple custom sides that can be defined to be allies or enemies any way the mission maker wants?

Id like to get an answer on this as well, now that the game is officially out, people out here must know if there is a 'resistance' side, that is, there is a 'resistance' side selectable while making missions. For me, this is a hugely important question as the mission Ive spent some time on will prolly be ported over, and the scripts do use resistance side checks, so Id greatly appreciate this info.

BLUFOR - US

OPFOR - North Sahrani

Independent - South Sahrani

Civilian

Thanks for the response, although coud you be a little more specific, for mission making sake wink_o.gif

So, basically, in the editor of Arma, there is still a side that is 'indpedendant', where you can choose whom they are freindly to, alike Resistance side in Ofp, or does this not exist in Arma.

Pleaaaaaase tell me there is an 'independant' side where u can choose whom they are freindly to (aside from the 'locked' freindly and enemy sides).

Yes there is.

I could bite myself in the a** though that I didn´t check if other sides are free defineable aswell when I had the chance to yesterday. I suggested that aeons back, I would think it would open doors for more complex scenarios with interesting alliances.

yay.gifyay.gifyay.gifyay.gifyay.gifyay.gif

Yesssssss

Thanks greatly Balschoiw, although if the actual script name for that side is different, doesent matter, small changes, at least the mission scripts may remain basically the same.

Too cool!

A script that has prolly over 1000 lines, with Resistance side checks mixed in there, ya, many dancing bananas do well to represent my relief to know this wink_o.gif
