Hmmm... got a map I made a fairly long time ago, was supposed to be my first island but it's not finished... it's fairly crude, most of the area is either the elevated airport area (2 side-by-side runways, covering almost the whole map lenght-wise, plus 1 shorter W-E aligned) or just flatland. It also has a 1km high flat-top "mountain" which I've used to drive Ferrari F1's and F-15's off from. crazy_o.gif

It only has Mapfact stuff in it, using textures from WGL Gaia. To get it "correct" I'd have to move most of the multi-part Mapfact buildings anyway, been having some trouble to align them correctly or get them to work... maybe it'd just need config work. Could try to work on it (college just started again so wont promise anything) and then send it to ya guys to work on the mission/test the island. huh.gif

how 'bout teams? 'pretend' that players represent certain countries or stunt teams.

and, very important, record it on video smile_o.gif

instead of an airshow, how about an air-race? people would have to fly the planes trough floating rings about 50 metres in diametre along a course.

sounds much more doable then making untrained men fly in formations when their senses are less then 1/5th of real life

with some respect please, there are skilled and battle experienced pilots of ofp...

and it's an airshow, so everyone could show what they can do with their loved planes...

if this aint gonna happen, does anyone fancy starting a litle clan ,so we can train and maybe ,invite people to watch whilst we try do a red arrow type airshow (after some training lol).

just an idea it would make waiting for arma seem quicker smile_o.gif.

FDF has the Hawks for the Red Arrows job. wink_o.gif

I'd say that something like FDF jets, or H&P F-18s (as in Blue Angels) or F-14s would be best for the jet job... there are alot more of excellent addons, both visually and in manouverability, such as Footmunch's F-15s, but those are just the ones I thought of.

For island... I think it'd have to be very plain, maybe only some objects. From released islands, RKSL test island would be the best methinks. Or we could custom-build something.

TS or something is a must for coordinating flight... but with people from all around understanding each other might be an issue. confused_o.gif

What would the difficulty settings be, you think? I can fly with both, but upside-down flying is a tad hard without externals. whistle.gif

Training will not make you see more.

for the tenth time, the red arrow pilots have a 170 degree FOV*, where a gamer with a 17"monitor only has a 50 to 70 degree FoV: in a game you simply cannot see enough around you to make this doable unless you want to get three monitors and a TrackIR set!

FOV means "field of view" , to illustrate:

fov.gif

You can easely get a 170 degree Fov, but you'll not be able to see as much, and your computer might struggle to display the things.

To experiment with the FOV yourself place a unit in the editor, and in his init field type > this exec "camera.sqs" <. then, ingame, use the plus and minus keys on the right of your keyboard.

Quote[/b] ]Training will not make you see more.

are you negative about everything ?

it is only as complicated as we make it.

my thinking is maybe 6 pilots on t.s with a few weeks training will make good squad.

things we need.

1. good overall leader

2. teamspeak channel

3.server

4.good jet addon (AWC su30)

5.6 pilots with experience

7.fun

then we can make map add as many civs and they can watch us fly over nogova airfield.

here one i took part in a while back, we had no trianing, just t.s and straight in there and messed around

XXairshow

let it cache ,will take a few mins

OK... those pilots were pretty darn good... I'm not that good, most of the time. biggrin_o.gif Looks like great fun though, although I might get a reputation as a "killer"... mid-airs you know, I'm known to be a bit of crazy when it comes to flying things...

One funny trick might be ejecting from the plane from a 90-degree dive right before the plane hits the ground... did it with F-15 and had the perfect timing, the seat just flew horizontally for 20 or so metres at a height of about 2 metres. tounge2.gif

When we're really good we can have an F-14 flying inverted with an F-5... you know what I mean... wink_o.gif

nice vid

the saab "draken" that was made a while ago has the option to use colored smoke, perfect for this sort of thing. maybe you could add it to the planes you're gonna use

Yeah... FDF has it, quite nice and manouverable thing (even has a braking chute), is it available as a stand-alone too?

Edit: Well, wouldn't say no for the offer if the time is suitable...

well about that FOV in real plane cabin...

yeah, you can see more and what? it doesn't mean you can't repeat it in ofp because of that fov...

i'm training and training and training from internal view, with no 3rd view, because it's more real, a lot harder...

if i manage to do this you guys can do more! (i realy believe you can! )

you see i like realy tough challenges, that keeps me going, it doesn't matter how much weeks, months or even years will took to make one manuever, but i'll make it, well at least i try hard (as I always did)

in mean time, while you just talk, i'm gridding my freestyle flight program with Footmunch's Su-33.

oh yeah, wan't to see my super modern joystick? here it is:

*the best joystic*

ah, so now you know what crap i'm useing... i'm thinking to buy realy new one, because this logitech wingman extreme joystic, lacks rudder controls and it pis*** me off(especialy when you can't rotate with heli)

P.S. i'm ready to go, just waiting for green light pistols.gif

Before the FDF mod made their Draken Footmunch released two betas of a Draken which incorporated smoke script - Ofp.info has them.  smile_o.gif

Edit: I also remember a Casa stuntshow jet plane but I really didn't like it very much but it also had a smoke script, but that was more or less fixed... couldn't choose the color.

Nicest smoking plane I know though is Scud's Birddog... that's just sweet... of course it isn't a jet plane but what the hell... I think its official designation is Cessna L-19... You can also find it on Ofp.info. smile_o.gif

The downside to the FDF Draken is that it is way too "spinny" (not sure of the technical term) in the way that, for example, if you move your joystick just slightly to the right to roll, you roll in a somewhat out of control fashion. Same goes for the MIG.

I agree with Blackdog. Never been a fan of FDF jets. They're way too sensitive, and to be honest, they're not even that good looking compared to other aircraft addons available (Footmunch, Scar...)

lookslike we got a few good men in here already, why dont you pm me for icq if you want to take this all a step further and we can ,set something up and at the very least have some fun and make a video or two. ?

pm for icq if your goodish pilot and want to set up a little clan whilst arma comes out . nothing big just a laugh and some training.

those are the ones I meant, they handle better then fdf's Draken imho.

FDF jets sluggish? Last time I tested them (with Footmunches and TMD's planes included) I found the to have a nose-down attitude and to be a tad sluggish. Might just be my stick then. icon_rolleyes.gif

It´s not your sticks fault.

FDF planes were made for keyboard&mouse flying, with sticks they´re less worth than an unarmed & unfueled flying pink pony.

Ill come along to watch.. and maybe try a little "Amature" flying rofl.gif

But i had an idea, why not go lowtech to hightech? start with the WWI bi-planes then work up to something fictional like the stargate F302 smile_o.gif
