POPKA 0 Posted July 4, 2006 Phonograph v1.0 A little addon i made over the past couple of days. For anyone that dosent know what a Phonograph Machine is its an old kind of Record player. (Much like the one seen before the final battle in Saving private ryan) I thought it would go nice with ww2 or any other kind of mission if it needs an old fashion Record Player. Comes with two anims and an Example Mission 1. Record spinning anim this Animate ["Ani_Record", 1] 2. side Crank anim this Animate ["Ani_Handle", 1] Pictures: File: Im currently between FTP's so this Temp link should do, I tested it and it seems to work. Some other mirrors would be helpful though OFPC mirror Download
jagy. 0 Posted July 4, 2006 Nice, but you have bad used sharp edges on... eh... on "green-part-of-model"
POPKA 0 Posted July 4, 2006 yeah I had to otherwise the texture would have looked even worse , I had problems with the "Brass" texture if you can call it that, Im probably going to make an update with a slight fix to the interior of the speaker model and change the texture once I make or find a better one. That would fix that visual problem anyway
Chris Death 0 Posted July 4, 2006 Hmm - looks good except the already mentioned sound-horn. However it doesn't need to be round, as there were also edge'd ones ... BUT: the green texture you were using makes me little bit confused. What material that should be, and where did you see that on such a record player in real life before? I think the original material was usually the same one like for bullets - though i dunno the word in english but in german: 'Messing' - it's a golden looking lite metal. check out this one: messing texture If ya like it - 'right click' and 'save as' ~S~ CD
BlackScorpion 0 Posted July 4, 2006 Brass is what you're looking for, an alloy of zinc and copper (thanks Wiki). Yes, errrr, it does look more like corroded copper atm. And not even that. The idea is great though, very cool. I'm not sure, but I think they usually make/made the cartridges from brass, not the bullet though.
Chris Death 0 Posted July 4, 2006 Yep - just checked it - it's 'Brass' thx BlackScorpion - well - i found more made of it like: keys or bells and trumpets lamps, etc. ~S~ CD

POPKA 0 Posted July 5, 2006 Quote[/b] ]check out this one: messing texture I think thats more or less the same one I used Dosent turn out as nice in o2 I think for that one. Im going to do some searching, or else hopefully try and make a better texture.
Chris Death 0 Posted July 5, 2006 err wait - O2 messed up the texture? Look i've taken exactly this texture now and changed it in photoshop from jpeg into tga format. Then i opened textview and saved changed it into pac. Now i didn't modify the texture itself, what would make the result look better or so - so don't look on quality - just on the colour: I dunno what O2 should have messed up here. ~S~ CD
POPKA 0 Posted July 5, 2006 Dosent look Brilliant on the final model i what I meant wen I see it in Bulldozer, Ive got a better texture Im going to use though, Ive got this old fan with Brass blades which I can easily photoshop into a much better texture for the Speaker part. Just need to wait until I get my Digital Camera back.
Chris Death 0 Posted July 5, 2006 Oh and btw Popka, i everytime forgot to mention: a 'Phonograph': An apparatus for recording and reproducing sounds, as speech, music, etc. What you made here is a 'Gramophon': Well it's nothing serious but i just thought i should tell. The addon will be called how you want - no offense meant in anyway - just trying to help. ~S~ CD
