sr4canes 0 Posted March 31, 2006 Can someone provide me with a detailed breakdown of the different modes of play that AA and Game 2 are supposed to have i.e. capture the flag, deathmatch, team death match etc Thanks in advance sr4canes
Metal Heart 0 Posted March 31, 2006 All that and a lot more, nobody knows exactly except BIS. Wait a second, even BIS doesn't know what the community will come up with
Metal Heart 0 Posted March 31, 2006 And co-op of course. Seriously, there will be a lot of different mp mission types, I'll try to come up with some: -Co-op, endless variety of sub-types, like from 2 guys special ops to 40-60 (maybe even more) player combined arms operations with additional AI on the players' side. And all sort of special/fun/miscellaneous missions, like missions with adventure or puzzle elements etc. -Player vs player missions, pretty much the same story, all kinds of different scenarios like simple deathmatch, capture and hold, capture the flag.... Capture the island missions (real time strategy elements, like building buildings to buy units from, resource gathering etc) involving the area of the whole island and several hundreds of units. Realistic mission types with realistic objectives on both teams and no respawn, like attack & defend. Serial killer missions (1 guy is the killer, rest try to catch him before he kills all the civilians etc). Missions with rpg elements. So... you get the idea, pretty much everything is possible within certain limits (like you probably can't have 100 players or 1000 AI units fighting the same time etc). Daddl 10 Posted April 1, 2006 With Armed Assault being said to have even more scripting possibilities and a mission editor (at least) on par with the old one, I wouldn't worry about game modes. Your fantasy's the limit.
Espectro (DayZ) 0 Posted April 1, 2006 What is CTI?sr4canes CTI = Capture The Island Its an RTS type of game. It can be player-team vs player-team or just player-team vs AI (coop mode). One player on each team is commander. It is his job to set up buildings, research technology and give out orders to the rest of the players. The rest of the players can buy infantry (to their squad), artellery and vehicles (both air and land). To do this, they need money. So each person have their own "account" where they have an income depending on how many towns and other "valuable zones" you have captured on the Island. If you want something expensive, you can send money to other team-mates etc. These games are long, ususally more than an hour. In OFP there is no JIP (Join in Progress), so it was pretty crap if someone disconnected (especially commander). Some versions of CTI can have commander switch to accomodate this. But in ArmA we can have a persistent world on a much bigger island than currently. This will be great

lwlooz 0 Posted April 1, 2006 If we get all those nice script-commands(like creating trigger, markers, setting direction on all axis) we always wanted and JIP works nice I second that the game modes are pretty much limited by what you can come up with. I personally look forward to A&D(Attack & Defend) Company vs Company Style.
